Sunday Wrap-Up: Brahmas get a win in Topeka

Lone Star Brahmas 5 @ Topeka RoadRunners 4 (SO) – The Brahmas picked up a key weekend split in Topeka with a come-from-behind 5-4 win in a shootout on Sunday. Topeka jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Tyler Poulsen and Sam Rennaker. Lone Star responded with two goals from Sebastian Vidmar and Gordie Helmuth to tie the game at 2-2. Poulsen would score again as would Mike Gornall to push the Topeka lead back to 4-2, but again the Brahmas responded with two goals in the 3rd period from Matt Lison and another from Vidmar to send the game to a shootout where Lison, Vidmar and Liam Stirtzinger would score. Boxscore

Janesville Jets 7 @ Soo Eagles 2 – The Jets snapped a six-game losing streak in convincing fashion as Robin Hoglund scored twice in a 7-2 road win which salvaged a weekend split with the Soo Eagles. The Jets got off to a really fast start with three goals from Drew Callin, Hoglund and Michael Louria all within the first six minutes. Nick Belger and Michael Caruso scored for Soo to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Jets responded with four unanswered goals in the 3rd period from Joe Llaurado, Adam Winborg, Kyle Patava and Hoglund’s second. Logan Halladay made 36 saves in the win. Boxscore

Odessa Jackalopes 1 @ Amarillo Bulls 4 – The Bulls ended up with two wins in their three game series with the Jackalopes over the weekend thanks to 36 saves from Collin Delia in a 4-1 win on Sunday in Amarillo. It was the visiting Jackalopes who got on the board first with a goal from Tate Sykes. The Bulls responded back late in the period with a goal from Mitchell McPherson. Patrick Pollock scored in the 2nd period to put the Bulls ahead 2-1 and two 3rd period goals from Roman Ammirato and Brady Ferguson made the final 4-1. Yoshihiro Kuroiwa made 45 saves in the loss.
