Friday Finals: Late heroics help RoadRunners sweep

Port Huron Fighting Falcons 2 @ Janesville Jets 3 – Brock Kautz made 35 saves as the Jets picked up a big 3-2 home win over the 1st place Fighting Falcons on Friday. Port Huron led 1-0 after a 1st period goal from Taylor Fernandez. Janesville tied things up at 1-1 in the 2nd period with a power play goal from Adam Winborg. Port Huron reclaimed a one-goal lead in the 3rd period with a goal from Logan Lambdin. However, back-to-back power play goals from Robin Hoglund just :41 seconds apart gave the Jets a 3-2 lead and the win. Boxscore

Topeka RoadRunners 7 @ Corpus Christi IceRays 6 (OT) – The RoadRunners scored three goals in the final 15 minutes of the game and then added an OT-winner from Daniel Rzavsky to beat and sweep Corpus Christi in a wild 7-6 win. Jake Durlfinger had a hat-trick and Connor Kelly had four assists for the IceRays. Tony Roisum, Brad LeLievre and Maurin Bouvet also scored for Corpus Christi. Sly Sutter scored twice and Sam Rennaker, James Ring, Jake Kamrass and Tyler Poulsen all scored in regulation for Topeka. Poulsen’s goal tied the game at 6-6 with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Boxscore

Odessa Jackalopes 4 @ Lone Star Brahmas 8 – In his first game in a Brahmas uniform, Roman Uchyn had a goal and three assists to pace the home side to an 8-4 win. Kellen Wasell also had a good night with two goals and two assists. Lone Star led 3-0 after the first eight minutes and 5-2 after two periods. Other Brahmas goals came from Hogan Davidson, Connor Enciso (2), Gordie Helmuth and Matt Lison. Lukas Laub scored twice for Odessa and Tate Sykes and Jake Kreutzer also scored. Boxscore

Bismarck Bobcats 3 @ Minot Minotauros 1 – Aaron Nelson made 29 saves to lift the Bobcats over the Minotauros, 3-1 on Friday. Bismarck got off to a fast start taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Stanislav Dzakhov and Nate Repensky. Minot answered before the period was up on their lone goal from Tyler Shipstad. Dan Kovar cemented the win for the Bobcats with just :35 second remaining with an empty-net goal. Merrick Madsen made 21 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Austin Bruins 2 @ Kenai River Brown Bears 0 – Nick Lehr posted his 5th shutout of the season as the Austin Bruins went 9 for 9 on the penalty kill and got two, 3rd period goals to take the middle game of a three game set with Kenai River, 2-0.  Jay Dickman ended up with the game-winning goal just :36 seconds into the 3rd period as he deflected a shot past Zach Quinn on the power play for a 1-0 lead. Dickman would then set up Austin’s second goal, which was scored by Lucas Kohls. Boxscore

Wenatchee Wild 3 @ Fairbanks Ice Dogs 6 – Fairbanks increased their lead in the Midwest Division as they doubled up the Wild on Friday, 6-3. Brett Gervais scored the first and the last goal for Fairbanks and Ethan Somoza also scored twice. Fairbanks jumped out to a 5-1 lead midway through the contest. Kyle Lee and Duggie Lagrone also scored for the Ice Dogs. Alex Rauter scored Wenatchee’s first two goals and Nicholas Rivera had the other. Boxscore

Springfield Jr. Blues 1 @ Minnesota Magicians 2 (OT) – Bryan Nies made 34 saves and Will Johnson scored just :16 seconds into overtime as the Magicians won their second straight game and second straight against the Jr. Blues with a 2-1 overtime win on Friday. Springfield’s Stefanos Lekkas made 27 saves in the loss as the Jr. Blues earned a point. Springfield led 1-0 in the 2nd period on a goal from Lester Lancaster, but Minnesota responded in the 3rd period as Johnson set up Eetu Karvinen for the game-tying goal. Boxscore

Aberdeen Wings 2 @ Brookings Blizzard 1 – Henry Dill had to make just 14 saves as the Wings picked up a 2-1 road win in Brookings on Friday. Connor Girard also played very well in the loss, making 28 saves. Aberdeen jumped out in front in the 1st period on a power play goal from Jake Horton. Five minutes later Brookings would answer with their lone goal of the game which came from Russ Jordan. The game-winner would come from Wings forward Erik Baskin, who scored a power play goal with 8:21 remaining in the 2nd period. Boxscore

Minnesota Wilderness 1 @ Coulee Region Chill 6 – Despite being outshot 41-22, the Coulee Region Chill got 40 saves from Adam Carlson in a 6-1 win. Mac Jansen put the Chill on top with a goal in the 1st period. He would assist on three other goals for a four-point night. Eddie Matsushima increased the lead to 2-0 before the Wilderness got their lone goal from Jaycob McCombs to make it 2-1 after two periods. The Chill blew the game open in the 3rd period with four goals from Cam Bleck, Gordon Wells, Richard Zehnal and Adam Lovick. Boxscore

Soo Eagles 3 @ Michigan Warriors 5 – With head coach Moe Mantha out, the Warriors didn’t miss a beat as they scored two 3rd period goals to break a 3-3 deadlock and win 5-3. Soo led the game 3-1 at one point on two goals from Denver Pierce and another from Trevor Boyd. Michigan responded with 47 shots on goal and goals from five different players including Tyler Groat, Colin Larkin, Josh Shellman, Jake Hopfner and TJ Stuntz. Boxscore
