Sunday Wrap-Up: Magicians snap streak

Michigan 3 @ Johnstown 0 – Ryan Wischow stopped all 28 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season as Michigan blanked Johnstown on Sunday, 3-0.  The Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead late in the 1st period as Zed Dietrich scored with :14 seconds remaining on what would be the eventual game-winner. Tyler Groat and AJ Marcinek added 2nd period goals, which was more than enough for the win. Tomahawks goalie Ryan Bednard made 24 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Springfield 0 @ Topeka 4 – Matej Tomek stopped all 21 shots that came his way for his 4th shutout of the season as Topeka blanked Springfield on Sunday, 4-0 in front of over 2,000 fans in Topeka. Topeka jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the 1st period from Tyler Irvine and Sly Sutter. Will Scherer and Cam Strong added 3rd period goals. Mike Gornall also chipped in with two assists. Dryden McKay made 28 saves in the loss for the Jr. Blues. Boxscore

MN Wilderness 3 @ MN Magicians 4 (SO) – The Minnesota Magicians came from three goals down to snap a 10-game losing streak and beat the Minnesota Wilderness in a shootout on Sunday by a score of 4-3. Things looked good for the Wilderness early as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Alex Toscano scored in the 1st period and Michael Covach and Brett Heikkila added 2nd period goals. The Magicians stormed back with goals from Nathan Krusko in the 2nd period and Lukas Laub and Jack Christensen in the 3rd period. In the shootout, Kane Durment and Brady Jones scored for the Magicians. Magicians goalie Chris Amsden made 39 saves in the win. Boxscore

Fairbanks 2 @ Wenatchee 3 (SO) – The Wild took two of three games from the Ice Dogs in the weekend series as they came from behind to edge Fairbanks, 3-2. Zach Quinn made 33 saves in the win. Wenatchee got on the board first with a power play goal from Brendan Harris. Yannick Vedel answered for Fairbanks with a shorthanded goal. The Ice Dogs took a 2-1 lead late in the 2nd period with a goal from Chandler Madry. Wenatchee would respond in the 3rd period with a goal from Colin Burston. In the shootout, Jake Ahlgren and Stevie Bryant were the scorers for the Wild while Madry had the lone goal for Fairbanks. Boxscore
