NAHL Showcase Tournament: Day 3 recap
The third day of the four-day North American Hockey League (NAHL) Showcase Tournament, sponsored by SBK Hockey, wrapped up on Friday, Sept. 17.
Topeka RoadRunners 2 – Alaska Avalanche 1
Defenseman Cory Ramsey and forward Justin Hussar (game-winner) scored for the RoadRunners in their 2-1 victory over the Avalanche. Goaltender Eric Rohrkemper made 19 saves.

Janesville Jets 3 – Austin Bruins 0
Netminder David Jacobson turned aside all 21 shots he faced as the Jets blanked the Bruins, 3-0. Forwards Ross Pavek (two goals) and Larkin Jacobson lit the lamp for Janesville.

Corpus Christi IceRays 5 – Owatonna Express 1
Forward Beau Walker tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and forward Mike Benedict added a goal and two assists in the IceRays’ 5-1 triumph over the Express. In goal, Pheonix Copley made 29 saves.

Wichita Falls Wildcats 3 – Bismarck Bobcats 2 (OT)
Forward Stephen Fahlstedt struck for two goals, including the overtime game-winner, as the Wildcats downed the Bobcats, 3-2. Goaltender Brian Jones steered aside 54 shots in goal.

Alexandria Blizzard 8 – Chicago Hitmen 2
Forward Nardo Nagtzaam recorded a natural hat trick, including the game-winning marker, and three assists and forward Jordan Nelson added a pair of goals and an assist in the Blizzard’s 8-2 victory over the Hitmen. In goal, Jimmy Kruger made 21 saves.

Coulee Region Chill 5 – Texas Tornado 2
Five different players lit the lamp for Coulee Region and forward Connor Gaarder picked up three assists, including one on forward Eric Drapluk’s game-winning goal, as the Chill bested the Tornado, 5-2. Between the pipes, Paul Moberg stopped 34 shots.

Fairbanks Ice Dogs 8 – Aberdeen Wings 2
Forwards JT Osborn and Joe Blake both rang up two goals and forward Zach Blaisdell added a goal and an assist in the Ice Dogs’ 8-2 triumph over the Wings. Joe Phillippi stopped 23 shots in goal.

Wenatchee Wild 5 – Traverse City North Stars 2
Forward Zachary Wallace connected for a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the Wild downed the North Stars, 5-2. In goal for Wenatchee, Brandon Jaeger turned back 22 shots.

Kenai River Brown Bears 1 – Michigan Warriors 0
Goaltender Mathias Dahlstrom stopped all 14 shots he faced and forward Doug Beck scored the only goal of the game as the Brown Bears bested the Warriors, 1-0.

New Mexico Mustangs 3 – Springfield Jr. Blues 1
Defenseman Eli Riddle rang up a pair of goals and forward Jimmy Peplinski picked up two assists in New Mexico’s 3-1 triumph over New Mexico. Netminder Matt Madore made 18 saves.

St. Louis Bandits 4 – Fresno Monsters 3 (OT)
Forward Ryan Stouffer’s overtime goal lifted the Bandits to a 4-3 victory over the Monsters. Forwards Josh Dangel and Isak Quackenbush each picked up a pair of assists, and goaltender Ian O’Brien made 19 saves.

Amarillo Bulls 4 – Port Huron Fighting Falcons 1
Forward Matt Johnson struck for a goal and assisted on forward Cory Freeman’s game-winning marker as the Bulls downed the Fighting Falcons, 4-1. In goal, Nikifor Szczerba turned aside 19 shots.
