Brookings forward Durment makes NCAA commitment

June 21, 2016
The Brookings Blizzard of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Kane Durment has made an NCAA Division III commitment to the University of St. Thomas. St. Thomas is a member of the (MIAC) Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Durment, a Kildeer, Illinois native, led the Blizzard in goals this past season with 17 and finished second in scoring with 41 points. The 21-year-old assistant captain had three points in three playoff games and was also invited to play for Team Central in the 2016 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament where he tallied 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) helping Team Central to a 2-0 record.

Durment (5’10/180) spent the 2014-15 season with the Minnesota Magicians in the NAHL, where he recorded 37 points in 56 games played. Overall in his NAHL career, Durment recorded 78 points in 115 career games.

“We’re really excited for Kane. We feel St. Thomas is getting one of the best natural goal scorers from the NAHL. Kane has a bright future at St. Thomas,” said Blizzard head coach Dan Diakawa.

“I’m excited to get my time at St. Thomas started. I love the area and know a few incoming players that will make it a comfortable transition. I want to thank my parents for their support,” stated Durment.
