July 28, 2016
The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Ryan Cook has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Merrimack College in Hockey East.

Cook, 21, is from Lancaster, New York and appeared in 57 games for Aberdeen last season, totaling six goals and 19 assists. Cook first played for the Wings and made his NAHL debut during the 2013-14 season.  That year he played in 55 games and had 2 goals and 11 assists.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder played for the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2014-15, but later returned to Aberdeen during the season, playing in 19 games and recording one goal and seven assists.  He also had a goal and an assist in three playoff games that year.

Overall in his NAHL career, which spanned the better part of two seasons with Aberdeen, Cook played in 131 career NAHL games and recorded 46 points and 160 penalty minutes.

Prior to junior hockey, Cook was a member of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in the T1EHL, appearing in 80 games over two seasons at the U16 and U18 levels.

He is the fifth player from the Aberdeen Wings 2015-16 team who has made an NCAA commitment.
