Friday Finals: Rebels spoil Generals debut

Janesville forward Jack Gates, an NAPHL alum, had a shorthanded goal for the Jets in a 5-4 win on Friday.

Aston 4 @ Northeast 2 – Three unanswered goals led the Aston Rebels to a 4-2 road win against Northeast, spoiling the Generals NAHL debut. The Generals got off to a good start after Aston took a 1-0 lead on the goal from Ryan Solomon, Justin Allen and Anthony Tzveyn scored for the Generals to make it 2-1 after one period. The Rebels then scored three straight including 2nd period goals from Cael Brennen and Dom Garica and a 3rd period strike from Jonthan Davidsson. Joel De Simone made 26 saves in the win, while Stephen Gasior made 38 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Springfield 4 @ MN Magicians 2 – Devin Cooley made 27 saves in his NAHL debut as the Jr. Blues went on the road and beat the Magicians in both teams season opener. Springfield got two 1st period goals from Josh Bell and Ricards Bernhards, a 2nd period tally from Christian Simeone and a 3rd period goal from Fabio Hollenstein. Both Magicians goals came off the stick of  Brendan Skarda. Magicians goalie Jacob Dittmer made 27 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Fairbanks 7 @ Topeka 1 – The Ice Dogs scored early and often as they got two goals from Robert Blueger and 20 saves from CJ Boothe moving to 2-0 on the season with a 7-1 win. Fairbanks got 1st period goals from Cayden Cahill and two from Blueger, 2nd period goals from Hampus Eriksson, Nolan Schaeffer and Daniel Haider and a 3rd period goal from Colton Fletcher. The RoadRunners lone goal came from Marcus Russell. Mike Latorella took the loss in goal for Topeka making 26 saves, while Mike Rockwell made nine saves in a relief appearance. Boxscore

MN Wilderness 4 @ Janesville 5 – Five different players scored for the Jets as they jumped out to an early lead and fought off a comeback for a 5-4 win. The Jets scored three goals in the 1st period from Adrian Holesinsky, Chris Dodero and Kip Hoffman. Jack Gates and Cole Paskus added goals in the 2nd period. Wilderness goals came from Ryan Peterson in the 1st period, Nick Olczyk and Tristan Rostagno in the 2nd period and Dylan Mills in the 3rd period. Derek Schaedig made 38 saves in the win in his NAHL debut, while Trevor Micucci made 26 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 1 @ Wichita Falls 6 – Two goals from Ryan Burnett and a four-goal 1st period propelled the Wildcats to a 6-1 win on Friday in the second of a three-game set. It was all Wildcats from the start as Burnett scored twice in the 1st period along with goals from Ilya Skvortsov and Ricky Carballo. Aleksi Poikola added a 2nd period goal and Isaac Kobienia scored in the 3rd period. Andy McGlynn had the lone IceRays goal. Evan Moyse picked up his first NAHL win, making 20 saves, while Tomas Vomacka made 25 saves in the loss. Boxscore

New Jersey 5 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 – Harrison Feeney made 40 saves as the Titans opened their season with a 5-3 win against the Knights, who dropped to 0-3 on the season. Danny Eruzione scored twice, including goals in the 1st and 2nd period, as did Kyle Perkowski, who scored in the 2nd and 3rd period. Victor Ostling had the other Titans goal. Knights goals came from Brent Jones, Adrian Danchenko and Mike Gelatt. Grant Valentine made 13 saves in the loss, while Colt Hanks made 19 saves in relief in his NAHL debut. Boxscore
