Sixes are good for Titans, Blizzard in wins on Wednesday

Nicholas Cardelli scored twice for the Blizzard in their 6-4 win on Wednesday night.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 @ New Jersey 6 – Victor Ostling and Todd Goehring each scored twice as the Titans double up the visiting Knights in a 6-3 win on Wednesday. The Knights struck first midway through the 1st period as Khristian Acosta scored his 7th goal of the season. That was answered by back-to-back goals from Kyle Perkowski and William Riedell for the Titans as they took a 2-1 lead.  The teams went back and forth in the 2nd period with Reed Robinson tying game for the Knights, but Ostling getting his first of the night, which put the Titans ahead to stay. Goehring scored both his goals in the 3rd period and Ostling added his second of the game as well. Paul Maust scored the other goal for the Knights. Brandon Perrone was busy in the win, making 35 saves, while Colt Hanks took the loss with 20 saves. Boxscore

Aberdeen 4 @ Brookings 6 – Six was the magic number in Brookings as well on Wednesday night as the Blizzard scored two late goals in the 3rd period to break a 4-4 deadlock and defeat the visiting Wings. Nicholas Cardelli scored twice in the game, which included the game-winning goal. Brookings jumped out to a 2-0 lead of goals from Zach Mitchell and Derek Hammer. The Wings responded with three straight goals in the 2nd period from Nick Jenny, Shawn Knowlton and Gage Mackie to take a 3-2 lead. The Blizzard regained a one goal edge with goals from Cardelli and another from Hammer to make it 4-3 after two periods. In the 3rd period, Tyler Bossert briefly tied the game for the Wings, before Cardelli scored the game-winner and Cade Borchardt added a late insurance goal. Josh Boyko made 34 saves in the win, while Forbes Ploszaj made 28 saves in the loss. Boxscore
