Saturday Scores: Jets win Midwest with sweep
Springfield 1 @ Janesville 4 – Four was Janesville’s magic number this weekend, as they swept Springfield in back-to-back contests by scoring four goals in each game. The win secured the Midwest Division regular season title for the Jets, who have now won five straight. The Jets saw goals from Chris Dodero (2), Adam Roeder and Jakov Novak. Spender DenBeste netted his first goal of the season for Springfield’s lone tally. Janesville’s Jacob Barczewski took the win in net with an 18-save performance. Bismarck 5 @ Austin 1 – Five straight second period goals set the tone for the Bobcats’ 5-1 win over Austin on Saturday. Bismarck completed a weekend sweep with goals that were scored by Chase Hartje, Tristan Ashbrook, Matej Murin, Zach Kennedy, and Matthew Barry. Coulee Region 6 @ Kenai River 2 – Five unanswered goals to finish the game gave the Coulee Region Chill a weekend sweep over Kenai River to close out the night. The Chill’s six goals came from six different scorers, who were Joey Sofo, Steven Quagliata, Caleb Schroer, Issac Theisen, Bailey Martin and Justin Kendall. Christopher Lipe and David Kaplan were credited with Kenai River’s two goals. Coulee Region’s Brad Arvanitis took the win in net after 37 saves. MN Magicians 1 @ Fairbanks 2 – The Fairbanks Ice Dogs held on for a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Magicians on Saturday to close out their weekend sweep. Bauer Neudecker and Samuel Ruffin each scored for the Ice Dogs in the victory. Mitchel Slattery put the Magicians on the board in the final minutes of the third period. In net, Fairbanks’ Erik Gordon took the win after 34 saves, while the Magicians’ Ivan Prosvetov took the loss after 32 saves. Boxscore
Johnstown 2 @ New Jersey 1 – Concluding their second straight win on the road, the Johsntown Tomahawks finished off the New Jersey Titans with a 2-1 win on Saturday night. The Tomahawks saw scoring from Nick Bruce and Mitchell Hale to seal the win. New Jersey’s Gordie Helmuth put the Titans on the scoresheet in the third period. Corpus Christi 2 @ Wichita Falls 1 – A third period rally by Corpus Christi earned the Ice Rays a 2-1 win in Wichita Falls to close out the weekend. Shreveport 1 @ Amarillo 2 – In the final minutes of the third period, Amarillo stepped up to take a 2-1 win over Shreveport on Saturday. Aberdeen 7 @ MN Wilderness 1 – Six straight goals by the Aberdeen Wings led to their 7-1 victory at the Wilderness on Saturday. The Wings saw scoring from Tyler Bossert, Logan Jenuwine, Gage Mackie, Carson Dimoff (2), Andy Carroll, and Colton Fletcher. Odessa 1 @ Lone Star 3 – A total of 285 penalty minutes settled to a 3-1 win for the Brahmas at home on Saturday, as the split the weekend at home against Odessa. All scoring came in the second period, where Hunter Stanley, Austin O’Rourke and David Marabella each found the net for Lone Star.
