Blizzard widen lead in Central with 2-1 win over Bruins on Wednesday

University of Maine recruit Max Sasson had both goals as the Brookings Blizzard beat the Austin Bruins 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Austin Bruins 1 @ Brookings Blizzard 2 - The Brookings Blizzard widened their lead in the Central Division with a 2-1 win at home on Wednesday night over the Austin Bruins. With the win, the Blizzard moved their record to 6-3-0 on the season, four points ahead of 2nd place Aberdeen. With the loss, the Bruins fell to 0-3-3 on the season. It was the Bruins who snatched the early lead as 6:31 into the game, Devon Fields scored his second goal of the season. The Blizzard were able to equalize late in the period thanks to a goal from Max Sasson.  Sasson wasn’t done however as late in the 2nd period, he converted on a rush up the ice for his second goal of the season and 3rd of the season, which turned out to be the game-winner. Blizzard goalie Zach Borgiel made 21 saves in the winning effort and moved his record to 2-0 on the season. Alex Schilling took the loss for the Bruins, making 23 saves. Boxscore
