NAHL Weekend Preview

November 10, 2017
It is a busy weekend in the NAHL as 22 games are slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It has been quite a while since the race at the top of the standings in all four NAHL divisions has been this close at this point in the season.

The largest division lead sits at just two points (Midwest), while two of the divisions (Central & East) have just a one point gap between 1st and 2nd place, and one division (South) is all tied up at the top.

Earlier this week, the NAHL announced that the 2018 Robertson Cup National Championship would be held at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, MN, from May 10-13. The four NAHL divisional playoff champions will advance to the Robertson Cup Championship. Once the four NAHL Divisional Playoff Champions are determined, clubs will be seeded 1-4 based upon their finish in the NAHL regular-season standings. The game schedule will be as follows: The #1 Seed will face the #4 seed in a best of three series. The #2 seed will face the #3 seed in a best of three series. The two series winners will advance onto a one-game championship to determine the Robertson Cup National Champion.

In the Central Division this weekend, there is only one intra-divisional series as the Aberdeen Wings and Brookings Blizzard play a home and home series. All the other action is outside of the division as the Minnesota Wilderness are at the Minnesota Magicians, the Austin Bruins face Coulee Region in a home-and-home series, Minot is in Kenai River to take on the Brown Bears, and Bismarck is in Fairbanks for a two-game set with the Ice Dogs.

In the East, while division-leading Northeast has the weekend off, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has their sights set on the top spot with a two-game series in Johnstown. The other series has the New Jersey Titans in Philadelphia to take on the Rebels.

Like the Central, the Midwest has just one intra-division series as the Springfield Jr. Blues are in Janesville for two games against the Jets.

The South Division is in full swing with divisional games as Shreveport travels to Odessa to take on the Jackalopes after both clubs had the weekend off last week. The other series are rematches from last weekend, only in different locations. Lone Star will host Amarillo, while Corpus Christi will host Topeka.
