Friday Finals: Wings take over 1st with 5-1 win

New Jersey forward Nick Boyagian had two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win on Friday night.

Bismarck 1 @ Aberdeen 5 - The Aberdeen Wings won the first of two Central Division showdowns between them and the Bismarck Bobcats. Nic Sicoly led all players with three points. Adam Pitters notched a goal and an assist while John Sladic and newly acquired Evan Rochowiak also scored. Matt Vernon was victorious in the crease, stopping 22 of 23 shots. For the Bobcats, Zach Van Sant scored the lone goal and Ryan Ullan stopped 25 of 30 shots.

Northeast 1 @ New Jersey 4 - Nick Boyagian’s three points propelled the New Jersey Titans to a 4-1 win over the Northeast Generals. Ryan Naumovski had a goal and an assist while Andrew Husted and Wade Novak each had a goal in the win. Matt Ladd picked up the win in net as he allowed just one goal on 13 shots. Mike Egan scored the only goal for the Generals. Marko Sturma was stuck with the loss, he made 18 saves.

MN Wilderness 3 @ Janesville 0 - Ryan Fanti was superb in goal as he denied all 32 Janesville shots en route to a 3-0 victory for the Wilderness. Nick Altmann, Ondrej Trejbal and Josh Fricks all scored for Minnesota in the win. Recently committed Eric Gotz finished the night with two assists. For the Jets, Daniel Lebedeff stopped 31 shots.

Coulee Region 2 @ Austin 5 - The Austin Bruins stayed hot on Black Friday as they knock off the Coulee Region Chill 5-2. Travis Kothenbeutel led all skaters with three points, one goal and two assists. Andy Willis and Chase Pilawski each had a goal and an assist for the Bruins. Xander Lamppa and Benito Posa also scored in the win. Mads Sogaard was excellent in between the pipes, allowing just two goals on 25 shots. Marshal Plunkett and Tyler Ebner found the back of the net for Coulee Region.

Shreveport 4 @ Topeka 1 - Dominick Procopio scored a goal and had two assists as the Mudbugs defeated the RoadRunners 4-1. Kieran Durgan, Jay Feiwell and Jake Transit all scored in the Shreveport win. Gustavs Grigals had a somewhat easy night as he only had to make 16 saves for his 10th win of the season. Nick Schultze scored the only goal for the RoadRunners and Emil Gransoe made 28 saves in net.

Corpus Christi 4 @ Odessa 5 (OT) - Ricky Carballo scored the game winning goal in his first game as a Jackalope as Odessa knocked Corpus Christi 5-4 in overtime. The IceRays’ Larry Jungwirth tied the game with seven seconds remaining to force the extra action before Carballo won it at the 1:25 mark. Evan Somoza scored twice and had an assist while Peyton Frantti scored once and had two assists. Matt Brown also found the back of the net for the Jacks. Alex Camarre got the win as he stopped 36 shots. Jake Acton got the loss despite stopping 40 Odessa shots. In addition to Jungwirth, Angus Scott, Brendan Miller and Trevor Wilhelm scored for the IceRays.

Amarillo 3 @ Lone Star 2 (OT) - John Russell’s goal with 39 seconds left in overtime lifter the Amarillo Bulls to a 3-2 victory over the Lone Star Brahmas. Russel had tied the game earlier on a penalty shot before winning in overtime. Collin Price was the other goal scorer for Amarillo and Jason Grande was the winner in net, he made 16 saves. Aiden Spellacy and Austin O’Rourke scored in the loss. Mitchell Gibson made 27 saves for Lone Star.

Brookings 3 @ Minot 2 (OT) - Josh Boyer’s goal in overtime was the difference as the Brookings Blizzard edged Minot by a score of 3-2. Cameron Teamor scored a goal and had an assist while Henry Enebak also scored for the Blizzard. Benjamin Beck was great for Brookings, he made 37 saves on 39 Minot shots. Alex Adams and Fritz Belisle scored for the Minotauros in the loss. Samu Lonkila was stuck with the loss, he stopped 25 shots.

Fairbanks 7 @ Kenai River 0 - The Ice Dogs dominated the first period of play with five goal in Kenai River and coasted the rest of the way to a 7-0 win. Nolan Schaeffer led all skaters with four points, one goal and three assists. Daniel Haider, Robert Blueger, Jack Johnston and Jax Murray all had a goal and an assist for Fairbanks in the win. Tanner Schachle and Erkka Vanska also found the back of the net for Fairbanks. Logan Neaton scored his first shutout of the season, he made 23 saves for the Ice Dogs.
