Shreveport forward Cook makes NCAA DI commitment

February 9, 2018
The Shreveport Mudbugs, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Cam Cook has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Niagara University in Atlantic Hockey.

Cook, 20, has played the last three and half seasons in the NAHL and the last two with the Mudbugs. The 5’11/190 lbs. native of Rochester, New York, is currently tied for the team scoring lead for the 1st place Mudbugs with 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 35 games played so far this season.

Cook has appeared in 156 career NAHL games overall with Shreveport, Fairbanks, and Kenai River. In those 156 games, he has recorded 96 career points.

Cook was named the South Division Star of the Week on January 15th and was nominated for the NAHL Forward of the Month award in November.

“Cam is a great competitor. He plays with a lot of passion and works at getting better everyday.   We at the Mudbugs are very excited for Cam’s opportunity. Niagara University is not only getting a good hockey player, but they are also getting a good person who does things the right way,” said Shreveport head coach Karlis Zirnis. “Cam is able to contribute in many different areas as he can play center or wing.  He can also contribute on the power play, penalty kill, and regular shift.”

Cook is the 6th player from the Mudbugs this season who has made an NCAA Division I commitment.
