Saturday Scores: Jr. Blues keep pace in Midwest with sweep

Cole Quisenberry helped the 1st place Shreveport Mudbugs close in on a playoff spot with the weekend road sweep in Amarillo.

Coulee Region 3  @ Springfield 6 - Fabio Hollenstein’s five points led the Springfield Jr. Blues to a 6-3 win over the Coulee Region Chill. Ethan Stewart scored a pair of goals, Brandon Puricelli, Spencer DenBeste and Giovanni Carabelli also scored for the Jr. Blues. Evan Fear made 35 saves to earn the win in net. Colin Price scored two goals and Marshal Plunkett also lit the lamp for the Chill.

Shreveport 8 @ Amarillo 0 - It was a dominant effort from the first place team in the South as they shelled Amarillo 8-0. Roberts Baranovskis, Ryan Burnett and Cole Quisenberry all scored two goals and had an assist in the win. Derek Contessa notched a goal and an assist for Shreveport and Cameron Cook also scored. Jaxon Castor earned the shutout in goal as he made 18 saves.

Johnstown 1 @ Fairbanks 3  - Jax Murray’s goal and assist propelled the Ice Dogs to a 3-1 victory over the Johnstown Tomahawks, which was Fairbanks 19th straight win. Luke Orysiuk and Daniel Haider netted goals for Fairbanks while Samuel Ruffin had two assists. Josh Benson was nearly perfect as he denied 22 of 23 shots. Samuel Solensky was able to score the only goal of the game for Johnstown. Jack Leavy stopped 23 shots.

New Jersey 7 @ Northeast 3 - It was the Matthew Cameron show and the Northeast Generals had a front row seat. The New Jersey forward scored four times as the Titans exploded for five goals in the final period in route to a 7-3 win. Andrew Husted scored a goal and had two assists while Tate Singleton and Jimmy Dowd Jr. also found the back of the net. Chris Garbe notched four assists in the win. Ciaran McNelis picked up the win in his NAHL debut. Matt Demelis provided all the offense for the Generals as he registered a hat trick.

MN Magicians 1 @ Austin 5 - It was all Bruins all night long in front of a sold out crowd for Paint the Rink Pink night as Austin dealt the Magicians a 5-1 defeat. Alex Mella scored two goals while Dan Petrick and Dante Sheriff each had a goal and an assist. Travis Kothenbeutel also scored for the Bruins. Alex Schilling only needed 16 saves in order to pick up his 15th win of the season. Arturas Laukaitis scored the only goal for Minnesota in the loss.

Janesville 5 @ MN Wilderness 4 (SO) - One night after falling in the shootout, the Janesville Jets returned the favor on Saturday as Jakov Novak scored the game winner in the skills competition. Aside from the game winner, Novak scored two goals and an assist. Kip Hoffman scored a goal and added two helpers for the Jets while Sam Renlund also scored. Garrett Nieto made 42 saves as well as two of the three shooters for Minnesota. Colin Baird, Ashton Altmann, Edward Lindelow and Isaac Moberg all scored for the Wilderness.

Bismarck 3 @ Aberdeen 1 - The Bobcats scored three unanswered goals and had an incredible penalty kill all weekend as they salvaged a weekend split with the Aberdeen Wings. Jacob Marti scored shorthanded, Mitchell Walinski netted a power play goal while Grant Johnson settled for a five-on-five goal. John Roberts was incredible as he stopped 44 shots from the Wings. Colton Fletcher was the only Wing to find the back of the net.

Brookings 2 @ Minot 4 - Ondrej Pavel’s two goals led the Minot offense as they took down the Brookings Blizzard 4-2. Miroslav Mucha scored a goal and an assist in the win while Keenan Lund scored as well for the Minotauros. Samu Lonkila earned the victory in the crease as he made 22 saves. Jimmy Elser and Tyler Hinterser scored for the Knights while Liam Murray made 24 saves in the loss.

Wilkes-Barre Scranton 3 @ Kenai River 4 (SO) - Sacha Guillemain scored in the shootout and Kevin Lake stopped all three shooters he faced as the Brown Bears topped the Knights 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday. Gil Garcia, David Kaplan and Joe Rosa scored for the Brown Bears in regulation while Lake made 32 saves. Curtis Carlson and Matt Kidney each had a goal and an assist for the Knights while Mike Gelatt also scored for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
