Aberdeen Wings forward Nathan Burke, now committed to St. Cloud State, will be playing at the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament next week in Plymouth, Michigan.

The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Nathan Burke has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at St. Cloud State University of the NCHC.

A 6'1/180lbs. native of Scottsdale, Arizona, Burke is in his first year with the Wings.  He is the current team leader in points with 45 (23 goals, 22 assists) in 46 games played this season.   Burke, 19, will also be heading to Plymouth, Michigan next week to participate in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament as a member of the NAHL Selects Red Team.

St. Cloud State is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference NCHC.  The Huskies were named the #1 team in division I college hockey as of 2/19/18 by USCHO.com.  They are currently 20-6-4 on the season with a 14-4-2 conference record.  Head coach Bob Motzko is currently in his 13th season with St. Cloud.  He has helped guide the huskies to 7 NCAA DI tournament appearances, 2013 Frozen Four.  Motzko also lead Team USA to the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.

“Nathans decision to commit to St. Cloud will give him an opportunity to pursue his life long dream of playing college hockey and earning a degree.  Nate’s aptitude and work ethic, combined with one of the best college hockey coaching staffs will create an additional opportunity of playing professional hockey in the future.  It will be exciting to follow Nathans journey," said Wings Head Coach Scott Langer.

“I am extremely excited on my commitment to St. Cloud.  Obviously, it is a great school that presents me with an amazing opportunity.  With that being said, I would like to thank my family, coach Langer, Coach Bohn, The Odde Family, The Wings organization, and all of my teammates for pushing me and guiding me to where I am now," said Burke.

Burke will join former Aberdeen Wings Kevin Fitzgerald and Will Hammer.
