Knights pick up 4-1 win in rubber match

March 6, 2018

Michigan recruit Jack Olmstead had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win on Monday.

Northeast 1 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 – Christian Stoever made 23 saves and Michael Morrissey, Jack Olmstead, and Matt Kidney all had multi-point games as the Knights picked up a 4-1 win in the rescheduled rubber match of a three-game series against the Generals.

After a scoreless 1st period, which saw plenty of action on both goaltenders, the Knights got on the board first midway through the 2nd period as Kidney scored his 15th goal of the season. That was answered less than four minutes later by a goal from Northeast’s Jeff Skinner, his 18th goal of the season.

In the 3rd period, the Knights seized control with three goals to put the game away and pick up the two points. Reed Robinson scored less than a minute into the period with his 17th goal of the season, which would stand as the eventual game-winner. Curtis Carlson and Jack Olmstead also scored to give the Knights a 4-1 win.

While Stoever made 23 saves in the win, Northeast goalie David Fessenden made 39 saves in the loss.
