Friday Finals: Three more playoff spots clinched

Jayson Dimizio led the Corpus Christi IceRays to a win in Shreveport and helped clinch a spot in the Robertson Cup Playoffs for the IceRays.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1 @ Northeast 3 - The Northeast Generals are going to the playoffs for the first time in team history. They punched their ticket to the Robertson Cup playoffs as they took down the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 3-1. Colin Bilek scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Northeast offense. Colin McCabe scored the other goal for the Generals. David Fessenden made 33 saves to pick up the win. Matthew Kidney scored for the Knights while Christian Stoever made 27 saves.

Corpus Christi 5 @ Shreveport 4 (SO) - Brendan Miller’s shootout goal clinched a postseason birth for the Corpus Christi IceRays as they topped the Mudbugs 5-4 in a shootout. Jayson Dimizio potted a pair of goals for Corpus Christi, Rylee St. Onge had a goal and an assist while Larry Jungwirth also scored in regulation. Chad Veltri had a great night defending the cage as he made 40 saves. Brendan VanSweden and Cole Quisenberry each scored two goals in the loss while Jaxon Castor made 25 saves.

Minot 2 @ Aberdeen 1 - The Minotauros are closing in on a playoff spot as they won their sixth straight game by knocking off division leading Aberdeen. Nolan Sawchuk and Fritz Belisle each found the back of the net for Minot and Nick Grabko made 39 saves. Christopher Mammas scored the lone goal for Aberdeen and Matt Vernon stopped 23 of 25 shots.

Amarillo 0 @ Lone Star 4 - Mitchell Gibson stopped 17 shots and picked up his league leading 10th shutout of the season as the Lone Star Brahmas won their ninth straight game as they cruised past the Amarillo Bulls 4-0. Kimball Johnson scored a pair of goals and Aidan Spellacy had a goal and an assist. Jon Russell also scored for Lone Star in the victory. Trevor Micucci was stuck with the loss as he made 23 saves.

Fairbanks 6 @ Kenai River 1 - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs are rolling once again as they won their fifth game in a row as they knocked off the Kenai River Brown Bears 4-1. Hunter Wendt and Erkka Vanska each had a goal and an assist. John Stampohar and Robert Blueger also scored for the Ice Dogs. Tanner Schachle picked up his team leading 23rd goal as well, while Luke Orysiuk also found the back of the net. Josh Benson picked up his league leading 27th win in goal. Zach Krajnik scored the only goal for the Brown Bears and Gavin Enright made 25 saves.

Johnstown 2 @ New Jersey 5 - Wade Novak’s hat trick led the New Jersey Titans to a 5-2 victory over the Johnstown Tomahawks on Friday night. Tate Singleton and Gavin Gulash also found the back of the net in the win. Matt Ladd stopped 31 shots as he picked up the win in goal. Roman Kraemer and Ben Schmidling scored for the Tomahawks. Jack Leavy made 25 saves for Johnstown.

MN Wilderness 3 @ Brookings 4 (OT)  - Jimmy Elser was the overtime hero for the Brookings Blizzard as he fired home the game winning goal just 29 seconds into the extra period. Connor Koviak picked up a goal and an assist in the win while Vince Marino and Gabriel Wahl also scored for the Blizzard. Adam Brizgala got the win in goal as he made 24 saves. Garrett Worth netted a pair of goals for the Wilderness. Ben Ward scored the other goal for Minnesota. Ryan Fanti made 28 saves. Despite the loss, the Wilderness clinched a playoff berth to the Robertson Cup playoffs.

Coulee Region 1 @ Janesville 6 - Six different Janesville Jets lit the lamp in a 6-1 win over Coulee Region. Sam Renlund, Matt Hanewall, Tanner Polglaze and Jordan Steinmetz all had a goal and an assist. Logan Ommen and Jack Vincent all scored for the Jets while Daniel Lebedeff made 13 saves. Brandon Koch had the only goal for the Chill in the loss.

MN Magicians 3 @ Austin 0 - The Minnesota Magicians blanked the Austin Bruins as Conor Kiaers made 30 saves to pick up his first save of the year. Carter Wagner, Arturas Laukaitis and Davis Kirkendall were credited with the Minnesota goals. Mads Soogaard made 20 saves for the Bruins.

Topeka 3 @ Odessa 5 - Blake Bride scored two goals and added an assist as the Odessa Jackalopes defeated the Topeka RoadRunners 5-3. Matt Brown picked up a goal and two assists while Ricky Carballo had a goal and an assist. Zach Heintz also scored for Odessa. Alex Camarre made 44 saves to pick up the win in the crease. Justin Kelley, Chad Hildebrand and Dallas Tulik all scored for Topeka in the loss. Derek Fournier made 39 saves.
