Saturday Scores: Wings claim Central Division regular season title
Minot 3 @ Aberdeen 4 - The Aberdeen Wings wrapped up the Central Division regular season title as they topped the Minot Minotauros 4-3. Joe Strada and Evan Rochowiak each scored once and assisted on another. Colton Fletcher and Christopher Mammas also scored for the Wings. Gabe Vinal made 29 saves to pick up his 18th victory of the season. Austin Koss, Ondrej Pavel and Fritz Belisle scored in the loss for Minot. Nick Grabko made 26 saves.
Amarillo 2 @ Lone Star 3 (OT) - Austin Bottrell’s second goal of the night won the game for the Lone Star Brahmas just a minute and 20 seconds into overtime. Jon Russell had a goal himself and had the assist on the game winner. The victory now gives Lone Star a 10-game winning streak as they head into a showdown with Shreveport. Alex Peterson had a goal and an assist, Austin O’Rourke scored against his former team. Harrison Feeney got the win as he made 28 saves, Jason Grande got the loss in net as he made 16 saves.
Coulee Region 2 @ Janesville 7 - Brenden MacLaren and Ian Malcomson each scored two goals as the Jets trounced the Coulee Region Chill 7-2. Sam Renlund and Tanner Polglaze each had a goal and an assist for the Jets. Jordan Steinmetz also score in the win. Garrett Nieto made 27 saves to pick up the victory. Emil Zetterquist made 30 saves in the loss, Gavin Holland and Andrew McGlynn netted goals for Coulee Region.
Corpus Christi 3 @ Shreveport 1 - The Corpus Christi IceRays have kept the Mudbugs’ division clinching plans on ice as they sweep the South Division leader on home ice with a 3-1 win. Brendan Miller continued his recent hot streak as he netted two goals for IceRays. Rylee St. Onge scored the other goal for Corpus Christi and assisted on one of Miller’s goals. Chad Veltri stopped an incredible 53 shots en route to his second victory of the weekend. Jordan Fader scored the only goal for his club while Jaxon Castor made 21 saves.
Fairbanks 2 @ Kenai River 4 - Gil Garcia’s three points propelled the Kenai River Brown Bears to a 4-2 decision over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Sacha Guillemain netted a goal and an assist in the win while Tyler Miknich and Alex Klekotka also found the back of the net for Kenai River. Kevin Lake made 33 saves to grab the win in between the pipes. Caleb Hite scored both goals for Fairbanks and Logan Neaton made 23 saves for the Ice Dogs.
Johnstown 7 @ New Jersey 2 - The Johnstown Tomahawks exploded for a plethora of goals as they downed the New Jersey Titans 7-2 on Saturday night. Roman Kraemer and Samuel Solensky each netted a pair of goals and added an assist in the win. Andrew Andary also found the back of the net twice for the Tomahawks. Joe Kile added a goal and two assists in the victory as well. Kade Phipps had 40 saves in between the pipes for Johnstown while his counterpart, Matt Ladd had 43 saves. Ryan Naumovski and Tate Singleton scored for the Titans.
Austin 5 @ MN Magicians 1 - Travis Kothenbeutel’s two goals and assist led the Austin Bruins to a 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Magicians. Dante Sheriff scored a goal and added a helper as well. Chase Pilawski and Alex Mella also found the back of the net for the Bruins. Alex Schilling made 18 saves for the win. Ethan DeStefani scored the lone goal for the Magicians.
Topeka 2 @ Odessa 5 - Matt Brown netted a hat trick and the Odessa Jackalopes took the series with a 5-2 win on Saturday. Viktor Johansson and Dylan Johnson also found twine in the Jackalopes victory. Brett Epp was fantastic as he 40 saves and even picked up an assist. Dallas Tulik and Max Finner scored goals for the RoadRunners. Sam Metcalf turned aside 41 shots.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2 @ Northeast 1 (OT) - Curtis Carlson was the overtime hero as his goal lifted the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights to a 2-1 win over the Northeast Generals. Tyler Nielsen also found the back of the net for the Knights and David Tomeo got the win in goal as he made 35 saves. Matt Demelis scored the only goal for Northeast. Marko Sturma was stuck with the tough loss as he made 35 stops.
