NAHL, NAPHL alum Brickley signs, makes debut with NHL's LA Kings

Daniel Brickley played in the NAPHL during the 2012-13 season and in the NAHL during the 2014-15 season.
The NHL’s Los Angeles Kings have signed unrestricted free-agent defenseman and NAHL, NAPHL alum Daniel Brickley to a two-year entry-level contract, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced.
Brickley made his NHL debut on April 5th and had an assist in a 5-4 overtime win against the Minnesota Wild.
"[It was] the atmosphere when I came here," Brickley said. "Everyone's so tight. That's something I wanted to be a part of. Everyone gets along. Everyone meshes well. And I felt that when I came here."
The 23-year-old Brickley (born March 30, 1995) is a 6-3, 205-pound blueliner who appeared in 40 games this past season with Minnesota State (WCHA), posting 35 points (10-25=35), a plus-16 rating and 53 penalty minutes.
Among NCAA defensemen, his 35 points ranked tied for fifth and his 25 assists ranked tied for seventh.
The Sandy, Utah native would join Kings forward Trevor Lewis as the only other active player playing in the NHL from the state of Utah, and just the fifth player to play in the NHL from Utah overall.
Brickley recently completed his Mavericks career by leading Minnesota State to the best regular-season record in the WCHA, and a berth in the NCAA national tournament. His team lost in the West Regional Semi-Final to the University of Minnesota-Duluth 3-2 in overtime.
During his junior campaign, Brickley led all Mavericks defensemen in goals, assists and points. He finished with 77 points (20-57=77) in 107 career games over three seasons with Minnesota State.
Brickley spent the 2014-15 season playing in the NAHL for the Topeka RoadRunners. He was the RoadRunners first pick in the 2014 NAHL Entry Draft. In 58 games with Topeka that season, Brickley recorded 37 points, which tied for 6th among all NAHL defensemen. He committed to play for Minnesota-State while playing in the NAHL that season.
Before that, he played for the NAPHL Utah Regulators 18U team where he appeared in 20 games during the 2012-13 season.
