The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Ethan Stewart has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Ferris State University in the WCHA.
The 6’0/175 lbs. native of Rockford, Illinois is a three-year veteran of the NAHL. Stewart, 21, has played 60 games this season, scoring 17 goals, and 30 assists for a total of 47 points, which led the Jr. Blues in scoring during the regular season.
Stewart was also selected to and played in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division team, where he was outstanding at the event, recording three goals in two games.
Stewart began playing in the NAHL during the 2015-16 season for the Aberdeen Wings. He then spent most of the 2016-17 season playing for the Kenai River Brown Bears. In 157 career NAHL games, he has recorded 72 points.
“As a coach I can’t say enough about Ethan,” said Jr. Blues Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “Stewart came to the rink everyday with a smile on his face and worked his tail off. This commitment is well deserved. Ferris State is getting a first class kid.”
Stewart is the 8th Jr. Blues player this season that has made an NCAA commitment
