June 14, 2018
The Shreveport Mudbugs, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Matt Weber has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bentley University in Atlantic Hockey.
Weber, 18, was a late season addition for the Robertson Cup Champion Mudbugs. The 6’1/190 lbs. native of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, joined the team in late March and played in four regular season games and recorded three points (2 goals, 1 assist).
Weber also appeared in five Robertson Cup Playoff games where he had one point.
Weber spent the majority of the 2017-18 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 18U team where he played in 35 games during the season and recorded 39 points. He was tendered by the Mudbugs in early December.
“Matt was a great find by one of our staff members, Francis Anzalone. He is a player who plays with high pace and fit in very well in Shreveport. In his time as Mudbug he has embraced the culture of our locker room. He works hard everyday of getting better. We like to congratulate Matt with his commitment,” said Mudbugs head coach Karlis Zirnis.
