Friday Finals: Bulls run winning streak to five straight

Tyrone Bronte helped the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights pick up their first win of the season on Friday night.

Topeka 4 @ Amarillo 5 - The two hottest teams in the NAHL met up in Amarillo and it was the home squad that squeezed out the win on Friday night. Brendan Datema and Nick Anderson each notched a goal and an assist. Logan Jenuwine, Jason Brancheau and Louis Helsen all found the back of the net as well for Amarillo. Jason Grande didn't see too much action but did make 15 saves to pick up the win. Dallas Tulik led the Pilots as he scored twice and added a helper. Hugh Quinn and Kyler Yeo also scored for Topeka. Sam Metcalf took the loss despite making 32 saves.
 
Maryland 1 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2 - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights picked up their first win of the season as Zach Stejskal stopped 30 of 31 shots he faced. Tyrone Bronte and Antony Starzi provided the offense for the Knights in the victory. Asger Peterson scored the lone goal for the Black Bears, David Tomeo took the loss as he made 26 saves against his former club.
 
Johnstown 5 @ New Jersey 2 - The Tomahawks continued their hot start to the season as they knocked off the New Jersey Titans by a score of 5-2. Samuel Solensky scored a pair of goals while Carson Briere and Alex Wilkins each netted a goal and added an assist. Christian Gorscak also found the back of the net for the Tomahawks. Carter McPhail was the winner in goal as he stopped 24 shots. Gavin Gulash and Brody Medeiros were the goal scorers for the Titans. Matt Ladd made 27 saves for New Jersey.
 
Bismarck 2 @ Austin 1 - An early season Central Division showdown went to the Bobcats on Friday night as they edged the Bruins 2-1. Jacob Marti picked up the game-winning goal in the second period for Bismarck and Ryan Taylor also lit the lamp for the Bobcats. John Roberts was superb in goal as he denied 25 of the 26 Bruins shots. Valdemar Ahlberg scored a power play goal for Austin and Kyle McClellan made 23 saves in the loss.
 
Minot 7 @ Brookings 0 - It was all Minot on Friday night as the Minotauros spoiled Brookings’ season opener. Minot had seven different goal scorers as Lincoln Erne, Joseph Dokken, Andrew Kangas, Matthew Gellerman, Wilmer Skoog, David Raisanen and Fritz Belisle all scored for the Minotauros. Ben Garrity was perfect in goal as he turned aside all 29 Blizzard shots. For Brookings, McLean Dorr made 11 saves while Jack Caruso made 13 saves.
 
Shreveport 7 @ Corpus Christi 4 - The Mudbugs snapped their three game losing skid as they defeated the IceRays 7-4 in Corpus Christi’s home opener. Josh Barraclough scored twice and had an assist while Dakota Concannon scored a goal and had two helpers. CJ McGee and Justin Cmunt each scored a goal and had an assist in the win for the Mudbugs. Ethan Harrison and Conor Witherspoon also scored for Shreveport. Leo Chaurd picked up the win in between the pipes as he made 31 saves. Blake Bennett had a pair of goals for the IceRays while Kyle Moore had four assists on the night. Tyler Love notched a goal and an assist, Jake Stella also scored. Sam Best took the loss as he made 23 saves.
 
Chippewa 1 @ Janesville 2 - The Janesville Jets took the first battle for Wisconsin as they doubled up Chippewa 2-1. Justin Engelkes and Jordon Halverson each had a goal and an assist. John Pesek picked up two assists in the game. Cole Brady was the winner in goal as he made 19 stops. Camden Thiesing got the only goal for the Steel. Owen Zdunski made 17 saves for Chippewa.
 
Aberdeen 4 @ MN Wilderness 3 (OT) - Stepan Pokorny’s second goal of the game was the game winner for the Aberdeen Wings as they defeated the Minnesota Wilderness 4-3 in overtime. Jonathan Bendorf and Connor Beatty each had a goal and an assist as well for Aberdeen. Matt Vernon scored the win in net as he stopped 27 shots. Brendon McNamara, Isaac Kobienia and Nick Portz lit the lamp for the Wilderness. Ryan Fanti made 29 saves in the loss.
 
Kenai River 3 @ Springfield 2 (OT) - The Kenai River Brown Bears kept their great start going as they took a 3-2 overtime decision against the Springfield Jr. Blues. Zach Krajnik scored the game winning goal just 12 seconds into the extra frame. Johan Boy and Logan Ritchie also score for Kenai River. Gavin Enright earned his second victory of the season as he made 28 saves. Brandon Puricelli and Nick Techel scored for Springfield and Caleb Hannon made 20 saves for the Jr. Blues.
 
Fairbanks 3 @ MN Magicians 0 - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs got back on track with a 3-0 shutout of the Minnesota Magicians. Nate Reid was spectacular as he earned his first win of the year. Jonathan Sorenson, Martin Jonsson and Tanner Edwards all found the back of the net for Fairbanks. Ethan Haider took the loss in goal for Minnesota. 
 
Odessa 3 @ Lone Star 1 - A couple of late goals from the Jackalopes propelled them to a win over the Lone Star Brahmas. Kyle Herbster had a goal and an assist for Odessa while Rex Moe provided the game winner and Vaclav Zidek put the game on ice with an empty net goal. The scoring struggles continued for the Brahmas as Nick Siffringer scored the only goal for the home squad. CJ Hapward made 29 saves for the win and Harrison Feeney made 18 saves in the loss.
