NAHL announces Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending November 25, 2018.  The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2018-19 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.

Central Division Star of the Week: Brad Belisle, forward, Aberdeen Wings

Aberdeen Wings forward and Bemidji State recruit Brad Belisle, 20, helped his club pick up two wins in three games this past week as the Wings kept pace with the Central Division leaders. The 6’1/195 lbs. native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, logged six points (2 goals, 4 assists) and was a +5 in the three games. On Wednesday, Belisle had the game-winning goal and two assists in a 5-3 home win over the Brookings Blizzard. On Friday, he picked up a goal and an assist in a 4-2 road win in Minot against the Minotauros. On Saturday, picked up an assist in a 3-2 loss in Minot. Belisle has now recorded a point in six straight games and is currently tied for 4th in team scoring with 16 points in 20 games played this season. “Brad has brought an immense amount of character and leadership to a team that lost a lot of talented players from last year’s team. Brad continues to be a presence on the ice each and every shift,” said Wings head coach Scott Langer.

East Division Star of the Week: Cameron Hebert, forward, Johnstown Tomahawks

Thanks to an NAHL-high 15-game winning streak, another Johnstown Tomahawks player has been recognized as the Star of the Week in the East. This past week it was Tomhawks forward Cameron Hebert’s turn as the 6’1/175 lbs. native of St. Andrews West, Ontario, racked up eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) in three wins this past week. The Robert Morris recruit began his week with a goal and two assists in an 8-2 home win on Wednesday against the Maryland Black Bears. He followed that up with another goal and two assists effort in a 5-2 win over Northeast on Friday. On Saturday, he picked up two assists in a 3-2 overtime win, as the Tomhawks completed a sweep of the Generals. Hebert, 19, is currently 3rd in the NAHL in scoring with 35 points 26 games played. “Cameron’s play this week was very strong in all three games and he played a major factor in us being able to pick up three wins. His points came at crucial times in the games. He has such an efficient 200-foot game and is such an important member of our team on both sides of the puck. He has been everything we hoped for and more this year for our team,” said Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Jax Murray, forward, Fairbanks Ice Dogs

Arizona State recruit and Fairbanks Ice Dogs forward Jax Murray, 20, helped his team to a three-game weekend road sweep of the Kenai River Brown Bears this weekend and had played a major role in all three wins. The 5’9/175 lbs. native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, had four points in the three wins, which included the game-winning goal in all three wins along with an assist. On Friday, Murray scored the overtime-winner in a 2-1 win. On Saturday, he again added another overtime-winner and added an assist in a 4-3 win. On Sunday, Murray scored the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 win. For the season, Murray is currently 2nd in team scoring with 19 points in 23 games played so far this season. “Jax was there at big moments for his team this weekend. He has a next level gear that is hard to keep up with. His team looks to him to be a consistent producer,” said Ice Dogs head coach Trevor Stewart.

South Division Star of the Week: Logan Jenuwine, forward, Amarillo Bulls

The Amarillo Bulls got back in action this past weekend by taking three of a possible four points in their road series in Odessa against the Jackalopes. Forward and Western Michigan recruit Logan Jenuwine, 20, was a big factor for the Bulls, totaling five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in the two games. On Friday, the 6’2/195 lbs. native of Romeo, Michigan, had two goals and two assists in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Jacks. On Saturday, Jenuwine scored the game-winning goal with under a minute remaining in regulation in a 3-2 win. For the season, Jenuwine currently leads the 1st place Bulls in scoring with 28 points in 20 games played. His 16 goals are currently 2nd best in the NAHL. “We are very proud of Logan for the impact he has on our team on a weekly basis. He is a competitor that brings an excellent effort every shift. He makes his teammates better and is a constant threat to change the momentum of the game every time he touches the ice. There is no doubt that he will be an impact player for Western Michigan when he joins their team next season,” said Bulls head coach Rocky Russo.
