Saturday Scores: Jets win highlights weekend sweeps

Daniel Chladek scored twice in a 5-0 win on Saturday to help the Bismarck Bobcats to a weekend sweep and move back into the 4th and final playoff spot in the Central Division.

Janesville 3 @ Chippewa 2 - A pair of goals from Matt Hanewall led the Janesville Jets to a 3-2 victory and a weekend sweep of the Chippewa Steel. Philip Bjorkman scored his first goal of the year for Janesville. Killian Kicker-Olson and Hutson Collins found the back of the net for Chippewa. Sam Metcalf stopped 29 shots for the Jets to earn the victory while Igor Samokhvalov made 15 stops for the Steel.
 
Austin 0 @ Bismarck 5 - The Bismarck Bobcats are into a playoff spot after finishing off the weekend sweep of the Austin Bruins. John Roberts was a perfect 29 of 29 in the blue paint while Daniel Chladek and Adam Stacho led the offense as they each put up three points. Ryan Robinson and Kirklan Irey also found twine in the Bobcats win. Kyle McClellan had 20 saves for Austin in the loss.
 
New Jersey 3 @ Jamestown 4 (OT) - Alex Frye’s 24th goal of the season was the overtime winner for the Jamestown Rebels as they knocked off the New Jersey Titans 4-3 on Saturday night. The Rebels received goals from Hunter Johannes, Jake Felker and Niki Jasko as they raced out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Then goals from Mitch Machlitt, Shane Haviland and Gavin Gulash tied the game at three and forced overtime. Noah West made 25 saves to earn the win in goal while Brandon Perrone was dealt the loss as he made 26 saves for the Titans. 
 
Topeka 1 @ Fairbanks 4 - Luke Ciolli scored twice and Mattias Sholl made 35 saves to guide the Fairbanks Ice Dogs to a 4-1 win over the Topeka Pilots. Jax Murray and Tyler Deweese potted goals for the home squad while Tanner Edwards finished the night with two helpers. The only goal scored by Topeka was courtesy of Christian Thomas, it was his first goal of the year. Emil Gransoe turned aside 34 shots in the loss for the Pilots.
 
Minot 5 @ MN Wilderness 3 - The Minotauros winning streak continued on Saturday night as they defeated the Minnesota Wilderness 5-3. With the win and Austin Bruins loss, the Minotauros jump into second place in the Central Division. Didrik Henbrant and Wilmer Skoog each tallied a goal and an assist for Minot. Taylor Lantz, Vince Marino and Nick Strom all found the back of the net as well. Ben Garrity notched his 11th win of the season as he made 21 saves. Ben Ward, Peter Grytdahl and Ondrej Trejbal all scored for Minnesota. Kaleb Johnson stopped 23 shots in the loss.           
 
Maryland 2 @ Johnstown 3 - The Johnstown Tomahawks finished off a weekend sweep of the Maryland Black Bears in a 3-2 win in Johnstown. Bennett Stockdale, Oliver Benwell and Samuel Solensky all found the back of the net. Cooper Lukenda wasn’t tested often but his 15 saves were enough to grab his 12th win of the season. Connor Pooley and Jack Rudin scored for the Black Bears. Anthony Del Tufo stopped 28 shots in a losing effort.
 
Lone Star 3 @ Amarillo 2 (OT) - With just 32 seconds left in overtime, Matt Guerra put home a loose puck to win the game for the Lone Star Brahmas. Seth Eisele was superb as he made 40 saves to pick up the win in goal. Blake Evennou and Zach Heintz also scored for Lone Star. Trey Bagwell and Jason Brancheau scored for Amarillo. Jason Grande made 26 saves in the loss. 
 
Odessa 1 @ Shreveport 2 - The Shreveport Mudbugs bounced back to earn a series split with the Odessa Jackalopes after winning 2-1 on Saturday night. Jay Feiwell and Jack Jaunich lit the lamp for the Mudbugs and Maiszon Balboa made 30 saves to grab his ninth victory of the year. Jan Blasko netted the lone goal for the Jackalopes and Alex Camarre made 32 stops for Odessa.
 
Aberdeen 2 @ Brookings 1 - Thomas Rocco’s goal at the 8:31 mark of the third period stood as the game winning goal and lifted the Aberdeen Wings to a 2-1 win over the Brookings Blizzard. Pierson Brandon netted his second goal of the year as well in the victory. Matt Vernon continued to be lights out as he allowed just one goal on 26 shots. Brady Bjork scored the only goal for Brookings and Jack Caruso turned aside 23 shots.
 
Springfield 2 @ MN Magicians 3 - The Minnesota Magicians avoided the weekend sweep with a 3-2 win on Saturday night. Andrew Kruse led the Magicians with a goal and an assist. Joel Pavey and TJ Sagissor also scored in the victory. Ethan Haider earned his 15th win of the season as he denied 26 shots. Ryan Murray and Nikita Kozyrev tallied goals for Springfield. Janis Voris was given the loss despite making 24 saves.
 
Corpus Christi 5 @ Kenai River 1 - The Corpus Christi IceRays may not have scored the game’s first goal but they did tally five unanswered goals to defeat the Kenai River Brown Bears 5-1. Keenan Johnson and Anthony Yurkins each netted their first goals of the season in the victory for Corpus Christi. Nikita Krivokrasov, Jake Stella and Anthony Firriolo all found the back of the net as well. After allowing a goal in the few minutes, Brian George was locked in for the rest of the game, stopping 26 of 27 shots. Michael Spethmann was the only Brown Bear to solve the puzzle offensively. Gavin Enright was stuck with the loss as he made 25 saves for Kenai River.
