Friday Finals: Knights stay in playoff hunt with 4th straight win

Alex Peterson had a hat-trick to lead the Amarillo Bulls to an 8-2 win on Friday as they moved closer to the South Division title.

New Jersey 3 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5 - Sacha Guillemain finished with a goal and three assists as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights defeated the New Jersey Titans by a score of 5-3 on Friday night. Gabe Temple and Blake Kryska also found the back of the net and had an assist for the Knights. Jordan Strand and Jeffrey Bertrand also contributed a goal. Zach Stejskal earned the win in goal as he made 26 saves. Tim DeBord picked a up pair of goals for the Titans while Mitch Machlitt also picked up a goal in the loss. Brandon Perrone made 26 saves.
 
Minot 3 @ Aberdeen 2 - Fritz Belisle’s goal at the 10:17 mark of the 3rd period stood as the game winner as the Minot Minotauros outlasted the Aberdeen Wings 3-2. David Raisanen and Justin Kelley also potted goals for the Minotauros. Nicholas Grabko was on his A-game as he turned aside 39 shots for Minot. Nic Sicoly and Max Salpeter scored for Aberdeen. Matt Vernon was able to stop 30 of 33 shots in the loss for the Wings.
 
Odessa 2 @ Amarillo 8 - The Amarillo offense exploded for eight goals on Friday night as Alex Peterson netted the hat trick for the Bulls. Jason Brancheau chipped in a goal and three assists. Logan Jenuwine had four helpers of his own. Jake Willets and Cooper Fensterstock each tallied a goal and an assist in the win. Brett Abdelnour also found the back of the net and added an assist. Jason Grande received plenty of goal support and was able to earn the win after making 32 saves. Oscar Tyskhagen and Everett Wardle each tallied for Odessa. Kade Phipps and Alex Camarre combined to make 31 saves for the Jackalopes.
 
Northeast 4 @ Jamestown 1 - David Fessenden made 25 stops and held the Jamestown Rebels to just one goal en route to his 12th victory of the year. The Generals beat the Rebels 4-1. Aurel Naus tallied a goal and two assists. Svet Kuchynski and Hunter Alden each had a goal and an assist. Brady Gaudette also a registered a goal. Hunter Johannes notched the lone tally for the Rebels while Noah West stopped 18 shots on 22 attempts.
 
Bismarck 3 @ Brookings 0 - John Roberts was a perfect 24 for 24 as the Bismarck Bobcats shutout the Brookings Blizzard 3-0. Daniel Chladek registered a pair of goalies in the win while Tim Piechowski also lit the lamp for Bismarck. Jack Caruso kept Brookings in the game as he stopped 36 of 39 attempts.
 
Johnstown 5 @ Maryland 3 - The Tomahawks inched closer to a regular season title as they knocked off the Maryland Black Bears 5-3. Oliver Benwell picked up the hat trick for Johnstown and Colin Price had the other two tallies for the Tomahawks. Cooper Lukenda stopped 26 of 29 to win his 14th game of the season. Max Borst potted a pair of goals for Maryland and Daylon Mannon had the other Black Bears goal. David Tomeo stopped 26 shots.
 
MN Wilderness 1 @ Austin 3 - Jed Pietila’a two goals carried the Austin offense on Friday night as the Bruins defeated the Wildernesss 3-1. Dante Zapata also found the back of the net in this one and Kyle McClellan denied 21 of 22 shots. Aaron Myers had the lone goal for Minnesota. Kaleb Johnson stopped 37 of 39 in the loss.
 
Fairbanks 4 @ Janesville 5 (SO) - The Janesville Jets picked up a critical extra point on Friday as they defeated the red hot Fairbanks Ice Dogs 5-4 in a shootout. Jack Vincent’s tally was the only goal scored in the skills competition to win it for the Jets. Matt Hanewall grabbed a goal and an assist while Parker Lindauer, Jack Vincent, and Erik Palmqvist scored as well for Janesville. Cole Brady was good enough to get the win, stopping 28 of 32 Fairbanks shots. The Ice Dogs had four different goal scorers. Jake Borgida, Brenden MacLaren , Ty Proffitt and Jonathan Sorenson all had goals for Fairbanks. Nate Reid’s shutout streak came to an end as he made 26 saves.
 
Kenai River 4 @ Springfield 1 - Michael Spethmann’s two goals and Gavin Enright’s 23 saves lifted the Kenai River Brown Bears as they took care of Springfield 4-1. Connor Canterbury and Jackson Nauss each scored for Kenai River while Andy Walker and Zach Krajnik both grabbed two assists. Ben Schmidling had the only goal for Springfield and Janis Voris had 21 saves for the Jr. Blues.
 
MN Magicians 3 @ Chippewa 0 - The Minnesota Magicians kept their top spot in the Midwest Division after blanking the Chippewa Steel 3-0. Ethan Haider continued his strong play by stopping 20 shots and picking up his 16th win. Matthew Stanton, Nick Lanigan and Ben Schultheis all lit the lamp for the Minnesota Magicians. Josh Langford denied 19 of 22 shots in a losing effort for the Steel.
