Saturday Scores: Generals sweep bolsters playoff hopes

Bismarck forward Ryan Taylor had a hat-trick to help his team to a win on Saturday and a weekend road sweep.

Northeast 1 @ Jamestown 0 - Matt Rutigliano scored the only goal of the game and the Northeast Generals survived to defeat the Jamestown Rebels 1-0. David Fessenden was perfect as he stopped all 33 shots fired in his direction. Ryan Keane also played very well for the home squad as he made 21 stops. John Jaworski and Connor Marshall each had an assist for the Generals.
 
Bismarck 4 @ Brookings 3 - Ryan Taylor put the Bismarck Bobcats on his back as his hat trick led the Bobcats to a 4-3 win over Brookings. With his three tallies, Taylor now has nine goals on the season. Adam Stacho tallied the eventual game winner at 7:25 of the third period. John Roberts denied 21 Brookings chances to grab the win in goal. Brady Bjork scored twice for the Blizzard while Gabe Wahl also found the back of the net. George McBey turned aside 28 shots for Brookings.
 
Chippewa 5 @ MN Magicians 6 - The Minnesota Magicians survived a furious comeback by the Chippewa Steel and were able to retain sole possession of first place in the Midwest Division after a 6-5 win on Saturday. Matthew Stanton led all players with five points, one goal and four assists. Chris Konin tallied two goals and one assist while Carter Breitenfeldt and Cameron Buhl each had a goal and two assists. Jake Hale also scored for Minnesota. Jack Robbel only made 18 stops but it was enough to pickup the victory. For the Steel, Michael Black potted a pair of goals. Grant Reichenbacher had a goal and an assist. Isaac Moberg and Spencer Oyler also provided offense for the Steel. Igor Samokhvalov took home the loss after making 17 saves.
 
Odessa 2 @ Amarillo 4 - Trey Bagwell’s two goals carried the Amarillo Bulls offense to a 4-2 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes. Alex Peterson and Matt Allen also lit the lamp for Amarillo, who are now on the brink of taking home the South Division regular season title. Justin Evenson made 25 saves en route to his 11th win of the year. Vaclav Zidek and Connor Fedorek tallied goals for Odessa while Alex Camarre made 35 stops. 
 
Johnstown 4 @ Maryland 2 - The Johnstown Tomahawks finished their sweep of the Maryland Black Bears as they skated to a 4-2 victory. Austin Friesen, Carson Briere, Andy Nedeljkovic and Bennett Stockdale all lit the lamp for the Tomahawks. Carter McPhail got the win in goal as he made 28 saves. Jonathan Young registered a goal and an assist for Maryland while Connor Pooley also scored in the loss.
 
Austin 4 @ MN Wilderness 3 (OT) - Two goals in the final three minutes of regulation led to the dagger scored by Garrett Dahm at 2:02 of overtime to complete one of the most improbable comebacks in NAHL history. Ben Almquist lit the lamp twice including the game tying goal that came with just 13 seconds remaining on the clock. Dahm finished the night with a goal and an assist. Dante Sheriff also found the back of the net for Austin. Kyle McClellan ended the night with 24 saves and left with the victory. Dylan Johnson, Jack Johnson and Andrew Troy were the goal scorers for Minnesota. Kaleb Johnson stopped 24 shots in the loss.
 
Fairbanks 2 @ Janesville 0 - Mattias Sholl denied all 18 shots he faced and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs grabbed a critical win in Janesville on Saturday night. Matt Koethe and Luke Ciolli tallied the goals for the Ice Dogs while Jonathan Sorenson, John Stampohar, Tanner Edwards and Grant Ledford all cooperated with assists. Cole Brady didn't get any goal support but was still very good in between the pipes. He made 37 saves.
 
Kenai River 0 @ Springfield 8 - The Jr. Blues offense exploded for eight goals on Saturday as they routed the Kenai River Brown Bears 8-0. NIkita Kozyrev grabbed a hat trick for Springfield while Max Brainin and Ben Schmidling each had a goal and an assist in the win. Caden Villegas, Nigel Nelson and Brenden Aird also found the back of the net for the Jr. Blues. Brandon Puricelli, Aaron Swanson and Max Osborne all had multiple point nights. Jack Williams was outstanding as he made 23 saves for the Jr. Blues. Gavin Enright made 30 stops for Kenai River.
 
Minot 1 @ Aberdeen 4 - Brad Belisle had two goals and an assist to lead the Aberdeen Wings to a 4-1 victory over the Minot Minotauros. Jonathan Bendorf also helped the offensive effort with a goal and an assist in the win. Riley Murphy also scored for Aberdeen. Matt Vernon was back to his normal self as he denied 34 shots to pick up his 32nd victory of the season. Vince Marino tallied the only goal for Minot while Ben Garrity turned aside 34 shots in a losing effort.
