Odessa goaltender Camarre makes NCAA DI commitment
May 28, 2019
The Odessa Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that goaltender Alex Camarre has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Massachusetts in Hockey East.
Camarre, 20, played for two seasons in the NAHL for Odessa accumulating a 29-26-1-2 record with a 3.06 career goals against average and a .914 career save percentage during his time with the Jackalopes.
During the 2018-19 season, the 5’8/165 lbs. native Buffalo, New York, had a 11-18-1 record with a 3.64 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. His two shutouts this past season against the Brahmas were his fourth and fifth career NAHL shutouts respectively.
Known for his acrobatic saves and aggressive goaltending, Camarre backstopped Odessa to some of their biggest wins last season against Shreveport, Amarillo and Lone Star. Camarre's 29 career wins are the most of any Jackalopes NAHL goaltender, surpassing the record previously held by current NHL star Connor Hellebuyck.
He also becomes the sixth Jackalope from last season's team to commit to an NCAA Division I institution and the seventh to make a college commitment.
