June 7, 2019
The Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that assistant captain and Top Prospects forward Dylan Johnson has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Johnson, 20, just completed his second and final season playing in the NAHL. The 5’8/170 lbs. native of Cloquet, Minnesota, was 3rd on the team in scoring during the 2018-19 season with 46 points in 59 games played, which included a team-high 24 goals.
Johnson was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division team, where he had one goal in two games during the event.
Overall in his two-year NAHL career, which was spent with the Wilderness and the Odessa Jackalopes, Johnson recorded 62 points in 108 career games played.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Johnson spent four seasons playing for Cloquet High School, recording 114 points in 102 career games.
“We are really excited for Dylan. He is clearly one of the hardest working athletes I have ever coached. UW-Superior is going to get a terrific hockey player and an exceptional young man. We’re fortunate to have so many great hockey programs around and we cannot wait to watch Dylan excel at this level of hockey, right in our back yard,” said Wilderness Head Coach Dave Boitz.
