NAHL Weekend Preview

It may be the busiest weekend in the NAHL since the Showcase in September as all 26 teams are in action during the last weekend in October.

It was another big week for NAHL players as six more players made NCAA Division 1 commitments this week, brining the NAHL season total to date to 101 players that are currently committed.

In the Central Division this weekend, the St. Cloud Blizzard will try and slow down the hottest team in the league, the Bismarck Bobcats, who have won seven in a row and put their winning streak on the line as they travel to St. Cloud. The Austin Bruins will try and snap their five-game losing skid with a series in Minot against the 3rd place Minotauros. The Aberdeen Wings are also hot, not having lost in regulation in their last six outings, and they play host to the Minnesota Wilderness, who are tied for 1st place.

In the East Division, the Jamestown Rebels try and slow down the hottest team in their division as they take to the road to face the 1st place New Jersey Titans, who have won five in a row. The Northeast Generals and Johnstown Tomahawks look to keep climbing the standings in the East with a three game set in Johnstown this weekend, including the lone NAHL game on Sunday. The 2nd place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are on the road in Maryland to face the Black Bears in a two game set. Finally, the Maine Nordiques step outside the division with a home series against the Kenai River Brown Bears from the Midwest.

In the Midwest Division, while the 1st place Brown Bears are on the road in the East against Maine, the hottest team in the division, the Chippewa Steel, put their six-game winning streak on the line in the battle of Wisconsin as they travel to face the Janesville Jets. The Springfield Jr. Blues will try and snap their five-game losing skid with a home series against the Minnesota Magicians. The 3rd place Fairbanks Ice Dogs are also on the road outside of the division, as they take on the red-hot Amarillo Bulls in the South Division.

In the South Division, the Amarillo Bulls put their five-game winning streak on the line against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. In divisional action, the 1st place Topeka Pilots are on the road to face the Corpus Christi IceRays, who are looking to snap a small three-game skid. The Shreveport Mudbugs look to add to their three-game winning streak as they travel to New Mexico for two game against the Ice Wolves. The final series features the Lone Star Brahmas in Odessa for two more games against the Jacks. The Brahmas began the three-game series with a 2-0 win on Thursday night.
