Saturday Scores: Road sweep puts Bruins in the thick of playoff race

Connor Zilisch had a big weekend to help Topeka continue their hot play with a weekend road sweep in Springfield.

Austin 4 @ Bismarck 3 (OT) - Josef Mysak’s goal in overtime was the difference as the Austin Bruins swept the Bismarck Bobcats, winning on Saturday by a score of 4-3. Dante Sheriff was electric as he potted a pair of goals and dished off two helpers. Tiernan Shoudy had himself a four point night as well for Austin. Brett Miller stopped 26 shots to win his 10th game of the season. Willy Stauber, Austin Jouppi and Patrick Johnson all netted goals for Bismarck. Andrew Miller made 22 of 26 saves. 
 
Topeka 4 @ Springfield 3 - The Topeka Pilots stayed red hot as they outlasted the Springfield Jr. Blues 4-3. Connor Zilisch had two goals and an assist while Austin McCarthy tallied a goal and two assists. Luc Salem also scored for the Pilots. Josh Langford got the win in goal as he stopped 35 shots. Caden Villegas potted a pair of goals for Springfield. Billy Sims also scored for the Jr. Blues. Alex Proctor was dealt the loss as he made 36 saves.
 
Fairbanks 7 @ Maine 3 - Oliver Kjaer scored twice and Laker Aldridge added a goal and two assists as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs completed their sweep of the Maine Nordiques with a 7-3 victory. Mason Plante, Matt Koethe, Tyler Deweese and Jack Johnston all scored for the Ice Dogs in the win. Mattias Sholl stopped 20 shots to earn the win in net. Stefan Owens netted a pair of goals for Maine while Trent Grimshaw scored as well. Avery Sturtz and Marco Duronio combined to make 41 stops.
 
MN Wilderness 1 @ Aberdeen 2 - The Aberdeen Wings held on to finish their sweep of the Minnesota Wilderness by a score of 2-1. Clayton Cosentino started the scoring with a shorthanded, his 10th goal of the year. Jakob Breault followed that up with a goal in the second period. That would prove to be the game winner as Minnesota could only muster up a goal from Bram Scheerer. Jake Sibell got the win as he made 29 saves on 30 chances. Kaleb Johnson played well, he Mae 26 stops for the Wilderness.
 
Kenai River 1 @ Amarillo 8 - Gleb Murtazin lit the lamp twice and assisted on two others as the Amarillo Bulls routed the Kenai River Brown Bears 8-1. Matt Allen and Jordan Venegoni each found the back of the net twice as well for the Bulls. Nick Trela tied for the team lead with four points after his goal and three assists. Ty Black also chipped in a goal and an assist. Charlie Glockner made 28 saves to pick up the win. Peter Morgan scored the only goal while Danny Fraga and Landon Pavlisin teamed up to make 34 saves. 
 
Corpus Christi 3 @ Shreveport 4 (OT) - Dawson Sciarrino’s eighth goal of the season was the overtime winner as the Shreveport Mudbugs took down the Corpus Christi IceRays 4-3. Matt Weber, Warren Natyshak and Sam Miller all lit the lamp for the Mudbugs in the win. Richie Parent was the winning goaltender as he made 20 saves. Corey Clifton, Benjamin Biester and Evan Carroll were the goal scorers for the IceRays. Jeremy Forman made 21 saves in a losing effort.
 
Odessa 0 @ Lone Star 7 - The Lone Star Brahmas continued their dominance of the Odeesa Jackalopes as the Brahmas won on Saturday night by a score of 7-0. Joey Baez had a hat trick for the second straight night. CJ Walker, Drew DeCarlo, and Matt Guerra all tallied a goal and an assist. Sam Brennan also found the back of the net for the Brahmas. Cayden Bailey won his 10th game of the year and got his fifth shutout of the year. Zach Stern made 40 saves in the loss for Odessa. 
 
Jamestown 1 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 - Artur Turansky scored twice and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights defeated the Jamestown Rebels 4-1. Egor Postnov and Jordan Strand each had a goal and an assist for the Knights. Zach Stejskal stopped 24 shots to improve to 13-9-2 on the year.Seth Bergeron had the lone goal for Jamestown while Noah West made 19 saves.
 
Northeast 4 @ Maryland 3 (OT) - Liam McCanney scored on a breakaway in overtime to secure a victory for the Northeast Generals over the Maryland Black Bears 4-3. Jack Ring Cam Gaudette and Ricky Boysen were the goal scorers for Northeast. Matt Pasquale stopped an incredible 49 shots. Ethan Heidepriem led Maryland with a goal and two assists. Hampus Rydqvist and Thomas Jarman also scored for Maryland. Andrew Takacs was dealt the loss, he made 20 saves.
 
St. Cloud 3 @ Minot 2 - The St. Cloud Blizzard salvaged a split of the weekend series as they took care of Minot Minotauros 3-2. Zackery Diamont, Jack Suchy and Owen Belisle all visited the red light district for St. Cloud. Tyler Bost stood on his head as he denied 47 opportunities from Minot. Kyler Kleven and Will Crull had the goals for Minot while Ben Garrity stopped 23 shots in the loss for the Minotauros.
 
Chippewa 6 @ MN Magicians 2 - Connor Szmul scored twice and Isaac Moberg added a goal and two assists as the Chippewa Steel beat the Minnesota Magicians 6-2. Jake Vaughan and Connor McGrath also tallied goals for Chippewa.Trent Burnham wasn’t tested much but he made 12 saves to earn the win in goal for Chippewa. Devlin McCabe and Josh Bohlin lit the lamp for the Magicians. Dysen Skinner made 25 saves in the loss.
