Maryland forward Jakobsson makes NCAA commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Filip Jakobsson has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for SUNY-Canton.
Jakobsson, 21, played his first and only season in the NAHL in 2019-20. The 5’10/168 lbs. native of Stockholm, Sweden began this past season with the Amarillo Bulls, where he appeared in five games and recorded two points.
Jakobsson was then traded to the Black Bears in early October, where he appeared in 28 regular season games and recorded 14 points (1 goal, 13 assists).
Overall in 33 NAHL games in 2019-20, Jakobsson posted 16 points. Jakobsson went onto finish the end of the 2019-20 season in Sweden playing for Nacka HK.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Jakobsson spent two seasons playing junior hockey in Sweden for Sodertalje SK in Sweden’s top junior league.
