Amarillo defenseman Fensterstock makes NCAA DI commitment

June 2, 2021

The Amarillo Bulls, formerly of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are proud to announce forward Cooper Fensterstock has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Colorado College in the NCHC.

“I’m extremely excited to commit to Colorado College. I believe it’s a great fit for me to grow as a student-athlete, and I’m excited to be a tiger,” Fensterstock said.

The Bulls veteran wrapped up his third season in Amarillo tied for the team lead for assists with 27 helpers on the year along with eight goals for 35 total points during the 2020-21 season.

“Congratulations to Cooper on his commitment to Colorado College,” Head Coach Rocky Russo said. “The opportunity to be a Student-Athlete at such a great academic institution is fantastic for him and his family,”

Fensterstock, 20, joined the Bulls in the 2017-18 season and was a big contributor during the 2019 playoff run with eight points in 11 games. In his three seasons with Amarillo, Fensterstock had 80 total points including both playoff runs.

He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team.

“My time in Amarillo has really prepared me for this next step, and that’s all thanks to Coach Russo and Coach Lewis,” Fensterstock said.

Colorado College is located in Colorado Springs and will be opening up its new Ed Robson Arena this October. The Tigers are members of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and are two-time NCAA tournament champions.

“CC has a hockey program that has a long history of success and I’m certain that Coach Mayotte and his staff will do a fantastic job of continuing that tradition,” Russo said.

Fensterstock rounds out the current Bulls roster to announce their college commitments bringing the total number for this year to 11 players.
