Shreveport forward Weber makes NCAA commitment

July 12, 2021

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL are pleased to announce that forward Matt Weber has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Aurora University.

Weber, 21, just completed his third full season playing in the NAHL for the Robertson Cup Champion Mudbugs. The 6’2/194 lbs. native of Caraopolis, PA, had his best season statistically in 2020-21, recording 26 points (14 goals, 12 assists) in 50 games played.

Weber chimed in with two goals in 10 playoff games in the Mudbugs playoff run to the Robertson Cup.

“Aurora is getting a work horse in Matt Weber. He’s a strong powerful skater and has been a top penalty killer. As a two-time Robertson Cup Champion with us, we expect him to use this experience and desire to win and add to the success of Aurora,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.

During the 2019-20 season, Weber recorded 23 points in 51 games played. He was also part of the Mudbugs Robertson Cup Championship team in 2018.

Overall in 121 career NAHL regular season games, Weber recorded 57 points, and added eight points in 25 career playoff games.
