Janesville forward Middleton makes NCAA DI commitment

July 12, 2021

The Janesville Jets of the NAHL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Tommy Middleton has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Colorado College in the NCHC.

Middleton, 21, just completed his second season playing in the NAHL with the Jets and third season overall of junior hockey.

The 5’11/176 lbs. native of Midland, MI, was 3rd in team scoring during the 2020-21 regular season, recording 34 points (16 goals, 18 assists) in just 33 games played.

Middleton was named the Midwest Division’s Star of the Week for May 3-9, 2021, and also contributed four points in three Robertson Cup Playoff games.

He was also selected to and played in the 2021 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division team.

“I am very proud and honored to announce my Division One commitment to Colorado College! I’d like to thank my family, friends, coaches and teammates who have helped me get to this point,” said Middleton in a social media post.

“The Jets organization is thrilled for Tommy and his family with his commitment to Colorado College. Tommy did face some uncontrollable adversity. We know it took a lot out of him and it was a really unfortunate and unfair situation. But it speaks to Tommy’s character and resolve to be able to continue to perform at such a high level and achieve his goals. We are very proud of him and wish him so much luck at CC. The coaching staff at CC is first class and are building a fantastic culture in Colorado Springs. With Tommy they are getting a great player and great young man,” said Jets head coach Parker Burgess.

Middleton played part of the 2020-21 season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL, scoring three points in 17 games. After a solid rookie season with the Jets in 2018-19, where he recorded 24 points in 53 games played, Middleton spent the 2019-20 season with the Fighting Saints in the USHL, where he had 11 points in 47 games played.
