Magicians defenseman Bell makes NCAA DI commitment

The Minnesota Magicians of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Jon Bell has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Army-West Point in Atlantic Hockey.

Bell, 19, is currently competing in his second season of junior hockey, both of which have been spent in the NAHL. The 5’10/193 lbs. native of St. Cloud, MN, is currently having his best career season in the NAHL with the Magicians. So far during the 2021-22 season.

Bell in 2nd among Magicians defensemen in scoring with 26 points (8 goals, 18 assists) in 46 games played.

“When I visited West Point it felt like home. The coaching staff and West Point community gave me a warm welcome. Playing NCAA Division 1 hockey was always a big goal of mine. Now I can play hockey and serve my country all at the same time. I want to thank my parents and everyone who has helped push me to the player I am today! I can’t wait to continue improving my game so I can be the best player I can be,” said Bell.

Bell played the 2020-21 season in the NAHL with the Bismarck Bobcats. In 47 games played during the regular season, he recorded 10 points.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Bell spent three seasons playing high school hockey in Minnesota for St. Cloud Cathedral High, where he helped the team to a Class A State Championship in 2019 and 3rd place finish in 2020.
