Jr. Blues a cusp of playoff spot thanks to shutout
Springfield 4 @ Chippewa 0: Springfield goalie Ethan Roberts stopped all 28 shots that came his way for his third shutout of the season as the Jr. Blues inched closer to clinching a playoff spot thanks to a 4-0 win in Chippewa in the lone NAHL game on Thursday.
After a scoreless 1st period, the damage was done by the Jr. Blues in the 2nd period as they erupted for three goals in a five-minute span to open up a 3-0 lead as Joey Dosan, Hagen Moe, and Hadley Hudak all scored. For Hudak, it was his first career NAHL goal and Cole Dubicki assisted on two of the three.
In the 3rd period, James Callahan would add an empty-net goal to complete the scoring.
Chippewa goalie Croix Kochendorfer made 24 saves in the loss.
With the win, the Jr. Blues need just one point or a loss by Janesville to clinch a playoff spot and now sit just two points behind division-leading Fairbanks.
