Maryland forward Aldridge makes NCAA DI commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Laker Aldridge has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Michigan State University in the B1G.
Aldridge, 21, is in his fourth and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 6’0/180 lbs. native of Lake Orion, MI, has recorded 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) in 49 games played so far during the 2021-22 regular season with the Black Bears.
Aldridge was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA, where he had a goal and an assist in two games.
“I have absolutely loved my time in Maryland. From the first-class organization, to being able to play in front of the awesome fans, I have absolutely loved my last year of junior hockey here. Coaches Mylymok, Weiss, and Schoen have done nothing but help me every step of the way and I am so grateful to be able to play for them,” said Aldridge.
“Laker is a fierce competitor, who plays the game hard every night. We are excited that he has committed to such a historic program, in a such strong conference. We are happy for Laker and look forward to watching him develop as a student/athlete over the next several years,” said Maryland head coach Clint Mylymok.
Aldridge had played the previous three seasons in the NAHL with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs from 2018-21. His best career season came in 2019-20, when he recorded 33 points in 48 regular season games.
Overall in his NAHL career, Aldridge has played in 165 career regular season games and recorded 95 points.
