Corpus Christi forward Merkley makes NCAA DI commitment

The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Charlie Merkley has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Robert Morris University of Atlantic Hockey.

Merkley, 21, played three seasons of junior hockey with his last year spent this past season in the NAHL with the IceRays. The 5’9/195 lbs. native of Fairport, NY was a solid contributor offensively, recording 20 points (9 goals, 11 assists) in 54 regular season games during the 2021-22 season.

“I am extremely excited and proud to announce I will be furthering my education and playing Division I hockey @rmumhockey. Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for the endless support to help get me where I am!” stated Merkley.

He is the fifth player from the IceRays 2021-22 roster who has made an NCAA commitment.
