Saturday Scores: Warriors continue streak in South

Nick Justice had a goal in a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday to help Aberdeen to a weekend sweep of North Iowa.

New Mexico 1 @ Oklahoma 2 – The Warriors got 22 saves from Cameron Korpi in a 2-1 win over the Ice Wolves, which completed a weekend home sweep. The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Malte Hasselgren in the 1st period and Drew Sutton in the 2nd period. New Mexico got their lone goal from Hunter Hastings later in the 2nd period. William Craig made 20 saves in the loss.

North Iowa 2 @ Aberdeen 3 (OT) – The Wings stormed back from down 2-0 in the 3rd period to tie the game and then win it in overtime to complete a weekend sweep in a 3-2 win. The Bulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Nolan Abraham. Midway through the 3rd period, the Wings made their comeback with goals from Nick Justice and Patrick O’Connell to knot the game at 2-2. In the overtime, Devon Carlstrom netted the game-winner with just :35 seconds remaining. Cole Moore made 28 saves in the win, while Mitch Day made 34 saves in the loss.

Philadelphia 2 @ Maryland 4 – Christian Catalano had two goals and an assist to lead the Black Bears to a 4-2 win and weekend home sweep of the Rebels. The Rebels struck first on a power play goal from David Deputy. The Black Bears would then net the next three goals, including two shorthanded goals from Catalano and a goal from Dimitry Kebreau. In the 3rd period, the Rebels cut the lead to 3-2 on a goal from Connor Sedlak, but Maryland put the game away later in the 3rd period on a power play goal from Brad McNeil. William Hakansson made 23 saves in the win, while Jakub Krbecek made 19 saves in the loss.

Minot 2 @ Austin 6 – The Bruins continued their winning streak as they swept the Minotauros thanks to goals from six different players in a 6-2 win. It was all Bruins from the start as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead with goals from Gavin Morrissey, Ocean Wallace, Nick Blood, and Walter Zacher. Minot got a goal late in the 2nd period from Adam Mahler to make it 4-1. In the 3rd period, the Bruins continued their scoring with goals from Tyler Green and Josh Giuliani. Joe Blackley had the other goal for Minot. Austin goalie Trent Wiemken made 21 saves in the win.

Springfield 3 @ Kenai River 2 – For the second straight game, the Jr. Blues beat the Brown Bears, 3-2. The Jr. Blues got 1st period goals from Hayden Riva and Noah Marino and a 2nd period goal from Lucca Munoz. Brown Bears goals came from Casper Conradsson Kelvgaard and Ashton Christman. Carson Dorfman made 36 saves in the Jr. Blues win, while Nils Wallstrom made 25 saves in the loss.

Wisconsin 2 @ Janesville 3 – The Jets salvaged a split of the series with the Windigo thanks to a 3-2 win on Saturday. The Jets jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Matthew Hale and Gabriel Lundberg. Wisconsin netted both their goals in the 2nd period, which both came from Luke Levandowski. However, the Jets would get the game-winning goal in the 2nd period from Jimmy Doyle. Selby Warren made 31 saves in the win, while Maxwell Beckford made 27 saves in the loss.

Northeast 3 @ Maine 6 - The Nordiques salvaged a weekend split with the Generals thanks to a 6-3 win on Saturday. Six different players scored for Maine, which included five goals in the 2nd period from Laurent Trepanier, Nicholas Bernardo, Brendan Kimball, Patrick Schmiedlin, and Kellen Murphy. Anthony Achille added a 3rd period goal. The Generals got two goals from Paul Minnehan and one from David Andreychuk. Thomas Heaney made 33 saves in the win.

Amarillo 4 @ Corpus Christi 2 – The Wranglers salvaged a weekend road split of their series in Corpus Christi thanks to a 4-2 win on Saturday. Corpus Christi led 2-1 thanks to goals from Stepan Kuznetsov and Peteris Purmalis, while Pierce Patterson scored for the Wranglers. Amarillo then netted the last three goals as Preston Brighton, Tommy Chunchukov, and Jack McDonald all scored. Luca Ganz made 26 saves in the win, while Lukas Malant made 35 saves in the loss.

El Paso 5 @ Odessa 1 – The Rhinos salvaged a weekend road split in Odessa thanks to a 5-1 win on Saturday. Bo Cosman led the way for El Paso with two goals and an assist. It was all El Paso from the drop of the puck as Cosman scored twice in the 1st period and Sam Blanton, Hunter Fetterolf, and Kolby Amici added 3rd period goals. Odessa netted their lone goal with just :29 seconds remaining in regulation as Emerson Goode scored. Nolan Suggs made 30 saves in the win, while Quentin Sigurdson made 32 saves in the loss.

St. Cloud 7 @ Bismarck 2 – Jordan Zelenak and Hunter Hanson each scored twice as the Norsemen salvaged a weekend split in Bismarck thanks to a 7-2 win on Saturday. The game was even at 2-2 after one period with Hanson and Zelenak each scoring for St. Cloud, while Julian Beaumont and Ian Engel scored for Bismarck. It was all Norsemen after that as they scored five unanswered goals to complete the win, including another from Hanson and Zelenak and others from Ryan Cutler, Broten Sabo, and Jake Hosszu. Ethan Dahlmeir made 31 saves in the win.

Shreveport 1 @ Lone Star 4 – Arthur Smith made 27 saves and had an assist as the Brahmas beat the Mudbugs on Saturday, 4-1. Lone Star jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Matthew MacDonald and Ray Murakami. Shreveport cut the lead down to 2-1 in the 2nd period with their lone goal from Ryan Austin. In the 3rd period, the Brahmas pulled away with goals from Will Laychur and Johan Rosenquist. Simon Bucheler made 18 saves in the loss.

Minnesota 3 @ Fairbanks 5 – The Ice Dogs got two goals from Justin Biraben in a 5-3 win over the Wilderness, which salvaged a weekend split. Biraben opened the scoring in the 1st period. The Wilderness then rattled off three straight goals from Eddie Shepler, Reid Daavettila, and Kevin Marx Noren to take a 3-1 lead. The Ice Dogs stormed back to score the last four unanswered goals as Billy Renfrew, Jake Cameron, Domenick Evtimov, and Biraben all scored, Kayden Hargraves made 30 saves in the win, while Konrad Kausch made 27 saves in the loss.
