Oklahoma defenseman Teleki makes NCAA DI commitment

December 1, 2022

The Oklahoma Warriors of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Cole Teleki has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Lindenwood University Lions.

Teleki is off to a great start this season for the 1st place Warriors, recording nine points in 18 games played so far during the 2022-23 season.

“The coaching staff at Lindenwood is great and Coach Zombo has a lot of experience,” said Teleki. “They give defensemen a lot of freedom and let them get involved with offense. They teach that a good defenseman can be smart in all areas of the game. That’s one of the biggest reasons Lindenwood will be a good fit for me.”

Teleki, 20, has played in 109 regular season games for the Warriors in his three-year career and has contributed 53 points in that span while playing a physical and responsible defensive game. He also put up three points in 11 career Robertson Cup Playoff games.

“I believe I’m a strong defenseman who can skate the puck up and make plays in the offensive zone that will lead to a lot of goals for them,” said Teleki.

The 6’1/194 lbs. native of Argyle, Texas, will join Warriors alums Adisen Brueck and Jackson Wozniak with the Lions, and though that connection wasn’t the driving force in Teleki’s decision, it certainly didn’t hurt Lindenwood’s chances in landing him.

“They weren’t the reason I chose Lindenwood, but it was a benefit hearing from them about it,” said Teleki. “I’ve been great friends with Adisen and we talk almost every day. [Woz] was a great captain on our team and he told me how much he loves it there. More than that though, I’m excited to play for a coach who has a lot of experience and can help me all around. Being able to play top-end competition at the college level is something else I’m looking forward to. The schedule is always extremely hard, and I love the challenge.”
