Saturday Scores: Bulls among many to post sweep

Corpus Christi 1 @ Amarillo 2 (OT) – In a wild overtime, the Amarillo Bulls completed a weekend sweep of the Corpus Christi IceRays thanks to a goal from Johan Lundgren. The Bulls took a 1-0 lead in the 1st period with a power play goal from Joey Molinaro. The IceRays answered back late in the 2nd period in a goal from Brad LeLievre. In the overtime, the IceRays had a golden chance to win as Tobias Kircher had a penalty shot, but Anton Martinsson made the save. Less than a minute later came Lundgren’s game-winner came on a rebound drive from Molinaro. Martinsson made 41 saves in the win, while Dryden McKay made 27 saves in the loss. Boxscore
New Jersey 3 @ Johnstown 0 – Jack Berry stopped all 26 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season as the Titans completed a weekend road sweep of the Tomahawks with a 3-0 win on Saturday night. The Titans scored a goal in each of the three periods in a balanced attack. Michael Gelatt scored the opening goal in the 1st period, which stood as the game-winner. Garrett Hallford scored a 2nd period goal and Raymond Brice finished the scoring with an empty-net goal in the 3rd period. Nick DeSimone made 24 saves in the loss. Boxscore
Minot 4 @ Austin 2 – Johnny Walker scored twice as the Minotauros increased their division lead with a weekend road sweep in Austin against the Bruins with a 4-2 win. It was all Tauros in the first half of the game as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Walker scored his first goal in the 1st period and added one in the 2nd period along with goals from Chase Springman and Christian Mohs. The Bruins tried to comeback in the 3rd period with goals from Jacob Paganelli and Austin Rueschhoff, but it would not be enough. James LaDouce assisted on three of the four goals. Jon Flakne made 22 saves in the win, while Kris Carlson took the loss with 17 saves. Boxscore
Odessa 1 @ Wichita Falls 2 – Wildcats goalie Justin Kapelmaster improved his perfect record to 7-0 with another good performance, making 23 saves in a 2-1 Wildcats win, which completed a weekend sweep of the visiting Jackalopes. Nikita Litviak started off the scoring with his third goal of the weekend to make it 1-0 for the Wildcats. The Jacks would tie the game later in the period as Eric Carreras answered back with a power play goal. The game-winner came with less than five minutes to go in the 3rd period as Nick Rosa scored. Dean Shatzer played well in the loss for the Jacks, making 30 saves. Boxscore
Bismarck 5 @ Brookings 2 – Nick Alexander scored two more goals, including his second straight game-winner as the Bismarck Bobcats completed a two-win weekend on the road thanks to a 5-2 win in Brookings against the Blizzard. It was all Bobcats through the first two periods as they scored the first five goals. Alexander scored his first goal in the 1st period. In the 2nd period, the Bobcats made it 4-0 with another goal from Alexander and others from Pieter Von Steinbergs and Willie Brown. Aaron Herdt scored early in the 3rd period to make it 5-0. Brookings broke through later in the final stanza with goals from Brenden Payne and Gavin Mindt. Hunter Shepard made 36 saves in the win, while Eric Hancock took the loss with 28 saves. Boxscore
Coulee Region 0 @ Janesville 7 – Martin Sundberg had a hat-trick and two assists and Jack LaFontaine made 26 saves to post his third shutout of the season as the Jets blanked the Chill to complete a weekend home-and-home sweep. Sundberg scored two of his three goals in the 1st period to make it 2-0. The lead swelled to 5-0 in the 2nd period with goals from Taylor Fernandez, Zach Solow and Jake Bresser. In the 3rd period, Sundberg completed the hat-trick and Cullen Munson also scored to make the final 7-0. Chill goalie Matiss Kivlenieks made 30 saves in the loss. Boxscore
MN Wilderness 4 @ MN Magicians 1 – It was another dominant performance from the Wilderness as they followed up their win Thursday night over the Magicians with a 4-1 win on Saturday, completing a two-win weekend. Tyler Cline scored twice for the Wilderness, including the game’s opening goal early in the 1st period. The Magicians answered five minutes later with their lone goal of the night from Alex Lambacher, his 2nd goal of the season. The Wilderness put the game out of reach in the 2nd period with three goals in 10 minutes including another from Cline and others from Kobe Roth and Ryan Bloom. Chase Munroe made 18 saves in the win, while Andrew Lindgren took the loss making 18 saves. Boxscore
Springfield 4 @ Topeka 1 – The Jr. Blues earned a weekend split thanks to a 4-1 win in Topeka on Saturday. Niko Della Maggorie made 27 saves to lead Springfield to the win. All four goals scored by the Jr. Blues came via the power play including a 1st period goal from Petr Kuznetsov. After a scoreless 2nd period, the Jr. Blues opened up a 4-0 lead early in the 3rd period with two goals from Trevor Stone and another from Matt Long. Topeka got their lone goal midway through the 3rd period also via the power play from Matt Jennings. Tyler Johnson made 25 saves in the loss for the RoadRunners. Boxscore
Aston 0 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 – The Knights got 31 saves from Grant Valentine, who posted his first career NAHL shutout as they earned a weekend split with the Rebels thanks to a 4-0 win on Saturday. The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 1st period shorthanded goal from Carson Knop, which would stand as the game-winner. Blake Busch added two goals in the 2nd period 10 minutes apart. Knop scored his 2nd goal of the game late in the 3rd period and it was also his second shorthanded goal of the game. Trevor Micucci took the loss in goal for the Rebels, making 14 saves. Boxscore
