Saturday Scores: Division leaders fall as sweeps shake up standings

With a 10-4 home win on Saturday, Bismarck head coach Layne Sedevie won his 400th career game behind the Bobcats bench.

Wisconsin 5 @ Fairbanks 3 – The Windigo completed a three-game weekend road sweep of the Ice Dogs thanks to another big game from forward Luke Levandowski in a 5-3 win. Wisconsin jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead in the 1st period with power play goals from Frank Jenkins, Max Martin, and Levandowski. In the 2nd period, Fairbanks closed to within 3-2 with power play goals from Billy Renfrew and Jacob Conrad, but Wisconsin pulled away with more goals from Martin and Levandowski. Joey Potter had the other goal for Fairbanks. Maxwell Beckford made 21 saves in the win, while Kayden Hargraves made 19 saves in the loss.

Kenai River 1 @ Anchorage 5 – Jackson Reineke had two goals to lead the Wolverines to a 5-1 win over the Brown Bears on Saturday, which completed a weekend home sweep. Anchorage jumped out to a 4-0 lead with 1st period goals from Reineke and Clay Allen, and 2nd period goals from Oliver Doran and Reineke. Carson Triggs would net the lone goal for the Brown Bears late in the 2nd period. Wilson Dahlheimer would add a 3rd period goal for the Wolverines to complete the scoring. Shane Soderwall made 26 saves in the win. Nils Wallstrom made 15 saves in the loss and Caleb Cross made 12 saves in the loss.

Aberdeen 4 @ Bismarck 10 – The Bobcats exploded for a season-high 10 goals as head coach Layne Sedevie won his 400th career game behind the Bobcats bench in a 10-4 win over Aberdeen on Friday. Defenseman Michael Neumeier had six points in the win. Bismarck scored five goals in the 1st period, which included two goals from Calvin Hanson and others from Erik Atchison, Vertti Jantunen, and Patrick Jones. In the 2nd period, Bismarck added two more goals including the second from Jantunen and one from Adam Pietila. In the 3rd period, Neumeier, Pietila, and Evan Hunter all scored. Aberdeen goals came from Nikolai Tishkevich, Roope Tuomioksa, Logan Gravink, and Owen Benoit. Hunter Garvey made 24 saves in the win.

New Jersey 5 @ Danbury 1 - Michael Young registered a goal and three assists as the New Jersey Titans topped the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks by a score of 5-1. Eric Charpentier and Tyler Sanborn scored in the opening frame to give the Titans an early lead. Ben Yurchuk and Brian Robertson added goals late in the contest. Wyatt Stefan netted the only goal for Danbury in the loss. Zakari Brice stopped 20 shots in the win while Matt O’Donnell made 33 saves.

Maryland 0 @ Maine 2 - Kael Depape was perfect as the Maine Nordiques shutout the Maryland Black Bears 2-0. Blake Rothstein got Maine on the board just 2:46 into the contest with his third goal of the season. The game would remain 1-0 until the final minutes as Laurent Trepanier added the insurance goal to seal the victory. Trepanier finished with a goal and an assist while Brendan Gibbons had two helpers.

St. Cloud 4 @ Austin 0 - Ethan Dahlmeir stopped all 25 shots fired in his direction and picked up an assist as the St. Cloud Norseman blanked the Austin Bruins. Jack Wandmacher and Andrew Clarke each had a goal and an assist. Blake Perbix and Hogan Sinjem also lit the lamp for the Norsemen. Ethan Robertson suffered the loss in goal, he made 13 stops.

Odessa 2 @ Shreveport 1 - The Odessa Jackalopes finished off a big sweep of the Shreveport Mudbugs as they took home the win on Saturday night 2-1. Shreveport got on the scoreboard first as Niklas Miller notched his sixth goal of the year. Michael Kadlecik picked up his first tally of the year early in the year to tie the game up at one. The game would remain tied until the final minute as Ryan Kelly got one past Tommy Aitken to lift the Jackalopes to victory. Gergely Orosz stopped 35 shots to grab the win in the blue paint. Aiken made 21 saves for the Mudbugs.

Lone Star 2 @ Corpus Christi 5 - Anthony Cafarelli had two goals as the Corpus Christi IceRays finished off the sweep of the Lone Star Brahmas with a 5-2 victory. Stepan Kuznetsov and Hans Martin Ulvebne each grabbed a goal and an assist while Gage Parillo netted a goal as well. Jakob Karpa and Matthew Macdonald got on the scoresheet for the Brahmas. Lukas Malant got the win in between the pipes as he made 37 stops. William Gramme and Arthur Smith combined for 23 stops for Lone Star.

Chippewa 1 @ Minnesota 2 – The Wilderness completed a weekend home-and-home sweep of the Steel as Isak Posch made 43 saves in a 2-1 win. The Wilderness jumped ahead 1-0 in the 1st period as Beau Janzig scored. Chippewa tied the game at 1-1 in the 2nd period as Matthew Grannan scored his first goal of the season. Late in the 3rd period, Kevin Marx Noren netted his second straight game-winner to give the Wilderness the sweep. Steel goalie Carter Wishart made 21 saves in the loss.

El Paso 2 @ Oklahoma 3 (OT) – The Warriors extended their winning streak to six in a row and moved their home record to a perfect 11-0 with a 3-2 overtime win over the Rhinos, completing a weekend sweep. The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Brendan Williams and Hunter Jones. El Paso tied the game with goals from Asher Wites and Tyler Green, which was both their first goals of the season. With :34 seconds remaining in overtime, the game-winner came off the stick from Drew Sutton. Warriors goalie Cameron Korpi made 14 saves in the win, while Nolan Suggs made 20 saves in the loss.

Amarillo 2 @ New Mexico 4 – Ice Wolves goalie William Craig made 32 saves to lead his team to a 4-2 win and weekend split against the Wranglers. New Mexico jumped ahead early on a goal from Nikolai Dulak. The Wranglers tied the game later in the period with a goal from Jack Ivey. In the 2nd period, the Ice Wolves regained the lead thanks to a goal from Tony Leahy. Amarillo briefly tied the game at 2-2 early in the 3rd period with a goal from Rihards Simanovics. The Ice Wolves pulled away later in the period with goals from William Howard and Sully Scholle. Wranglers goalie Carter Clafton made 29 saves in the loss.

Janesville 1 @ Springfield 4  - Andrew Schultz scored twice as the Springfield Jr. Blues beat the Janesville Jets 4-1. James Callahan and Alex Fendler also picked up goals on the evening for Springfield. Isaac Keller and Mac Gadowsky each grabbed two assists in the victory. Matthew Hale provided all the offense for Janesville in the loss. Carson Dorfman was the winner in goal as he stopped 37 shots while Selby Warren was saddled with the loss despite making 31 saves.
