New Mexico forward Scholle makes NCAA DI commitment
The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Sully Scholle has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Maine in Hockey East.
Scholle, 19, is currently in his second season of junior hockey in the NAHL. The 5’11/180 lbs. native of Chaska, MN, is currently 2nd in team scoring during the current 2022-23 season with 45 points (25 goals, 20 assists) in 48 games played to date.
“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to further my education and Division 1 hockey career at University of Maine! Thank you to God, my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for helping me get to this point!” said Scholle on social media.
Scholle joined the Ice Wolves during the second half of the 2021-22 season and had an immediate impact, recording 16 points in 22 regular season games.
During the Ice Wolves playoff run to the South Division playoff title and the Robertson Cup Semi-Finals, he was 2nd on the team in scoring during the playoffs with 13 points in 13 games played.
Overall during his two-year NAHL career with New Mexico, he has recorded 61 points in 70 regular season games played.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Scholle played three seasons of high school hockey in Minnesota for Chaska High.
