The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that goaltender Peter Thome has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the University of North Dakota. UND are members of the NCHC conference.
Thome becomes the seventh Wings goaltender to commit to the Division I level in just over six seasons as a member of the NAHL.
Five of Aberdeen's last six goaltenders have made commitments to the Division I level. Thome's commitment is number 31 all-time for the Wings program.
"We congratulate Peter on his commitment to UND," Head Coach Francis Anzalone said. "Peter is a driven young man who has worked hard to get to this point. He has a very bright future, and we look forward to continuing to help him reach his potential as a goaltender, athlete and young man."
In nine appearances for the Wings so far this season, Thome has posted a 2.48 GAA and a .924 SVP. He was named NAHL Central Division 2nd Star of the Week on September 28.
The Minneapolis, MN native tendered with the Wings last January while playing for the Chicago Fury U18 AAA program in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. Thome was top five in wins, goals against average and save percentage in the T1EHL in 2014-2015.
