Aston forward McMenamin makes NCAA commitment
March 24, 2016

The Aston Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Colton McMenamin has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Stevenson University Mustangs, who will play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference - West (ECAC - West). His commitment begins in the fall of 2016.
McMenamin, 20, has seven points on the season. However, he is instrumental on the team’s penalty kill unit; he is a team leader and the consummate team player. He was named the NAHL’s East Division Player of the Week for week ending January 24 where he had four points in two games to help the Rebels sweep the New Jersey Titans. The left-handed shooting forward is a local product from Collegeville, PA.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to play hockey at the next level,” stated McMenamin. “Stevenson has a great mix of everything I am looking for in a college, and I am really excited to get started. I also want to express a special heartfelt thank you to my parents, coaches, teammates and all of those who have supported me along the way. It has been an awesome journey and I wouldn’t be where I am without any of them,” concluded McMenamin.
“Colton is a phenomenal young man and player,” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “Stevenson is lucky to be getting such a great person and teammate to start their program,” stated Coombs.
Stevenson University is located in Owings Mills, MD (Baltimore suburb). The Mustangs will begin intercollegiate play for the 2016-17 season. The team will be coached by former Neumann University head coach Dominick Dawes.
