Aston forward Swingle makes NCAA commitment

The Aston Rebels, proud members of the NAHL, are pleased to announce that forward and co-captain Austin Swingle has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Stevenson University Mustangs, who will play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference - West (ECAC - West). His commitment begins in the fall of 2016.
“Swings” as he is affectionately known, 20, had 14 points on the second (4 goals and 10 assists). He was second on the team with 117 penalty minutes. The St. Cloud, Minnesota native has a relentless work ethic, true leadership abilities and cerebral skills. He was named honorable mentioned for the star of the week for weekending November 29, 2015 when he scored two goals against the Johnstown Tomahawks. He is the second Rebel to commit to Stevenson this season.
“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, and friends and, most importantly, family for helping me reach my goals,” stated Swingle. “I am excited to be heading to Stevenson for their inaugural season, and I am really looking forward to what the school has to offer academically,” concluded Swingle.
“I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to coach him,” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He has been a great captain and teammate since the day we traded for him a year ago. He will be a success in life no matter what he chooses,” stated Coombs.
Stevenson University is located in Owings Mills, MD (Baltimore suburb). The Mustangs will begin intercollegiate play for the 2016-17 season. The team will be coached by former Neumann University head coach Dominick Dawes.
