Brookings forward Schmidt makes NCAA commitment

The Brookings Blizzard, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Colton Schmidt (Eden Prairie, Minnesota) has made his NCAA Division III commitment to play hockey for Gustavus Adolphus. Gustavus is a Division III college located in St. Peter, MN and a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).
Schmidt, 19, spent two seasons with the Blizzard and finished playing in 60 games totaling 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists). This past season, Schmidt (5’10/175) appeared in 26 games during the regular season and another four in the playoffs.
Schmidt made his NAHL debut during the 2014-15 season with the Odessa Jackalopes.
"We are very excited for Colton and will definitely miss his speed and tenacity next season," said Blizzard head coach Dan Daikawa.
"After overcoming several challenges the last two seasons, I'm very excited to be joining such a great hockey organization and school and look forward to making an impact and contributing to the success of the Gusties! I'd like to thank my family, my girlfriend, friends, and coaches who have supported me throughout the years,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt is the 9th Blizzard player this season that has made an NCAA commitment.
