August 22, 2017

Former NAHL Top Prospects and Wichita Falls Wildcats defenseman Jonathan Waring has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for UMass-Lowell for the 2017-18 season. UMass-Lowell are members of Hockey East.
Waring, 20, completed his final season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Wildcats during the 2016-17 season. The native of Farmington Hills, Michigan, had a career season last year in Wichita Falls, recording 37 points (8 goals, 29 assists) in 54 regular season games.
Waring (6’2/200) was also selected to and played in the 2017 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team. He also recorded three points in three playoff games.
Prior to playing for Wichita Falls in 2016-17, Waring spent the 2015-16 season playing for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, Rochester Jr. Americans, and also played a game in the NAHL for the Aston Rebels.
"The Wildcat family is very happy for Jonathan and his family with his recent commitment to UMass-Lowell. Jonathan is very deserving of this opportunity as he had a tremendous season establishing himself as one of the league's premiere offensive-defenseman. UMass-Lowell will be proud of the type of character and work ethic they will see from him both on and off the ice in the years to come,” said former Wildcats head coach Josh Nelson.
Waring was the 9th player for the 2016-17 Wildcats roster to make an NCAA commitment
