NAHL Weekend Preview
February 16, 2018

With the USA Hockey trade deadline and the NAHL Top Prospects rosters announcement in the rearview mirror, NAHL teams get back to focusing on the task at hand, which is trying to lock in a spot for the Robertson Cup Playoffs.
This weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year, with 24 games on the schedule from Friday-Sunday.
The NAHL had another incredible week of NCAA commitments with five more players making their college plans for next season. To date, 160 NAHL players have made an NCAA commitment during the 2017-18 season.
In Central Division action, the 1st place Aberdeen Wings face a tough showdown in Austin against the 2nd place Bruins. Aberdeen is coming off a 3-0 win on Wednesday over Brookings. The Wings have a four point lead heading into their series in Austin. The 3rd place Minnesota Wilderness will host the Brookings Blizzard for a pair of games, and Bismarck and Minot renew their in-state rivalry with a three-game weekend, with Friday and Saturday being played in Bismarck and Sunday in Minot, with the two clubs separated by just one point.
In the East, the Philadelphia Rebels are running away with the division and look to clinch a playoff spot this weekend with a home game on Friday against the Generals. Meanwhile, the Generals have two more games on the weekend as they then travel to New Jersey Saturday and Sunday for two games against the Titans. Spots 2-4 are separated by just five points in the East. The other action features out-of-division games as the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Knights are in Fairbanks for two games against the Ice Dogs, while the Johnstown Tomahawks are in Kenai River.
In the Midwest Division, it is a big weekend for the Coulee Region Chill, who look to keep their momentum from a win on Thursday night going with two home games against the Springfield Jr. Blues. The Jr. Blues are in 3rd place, 12 points ahead of the Chill in the standings. The Minnesota Magicians, who are a point behind Springfield for 3rd place, will play host to the Janesville Jets, who have just one regulation loss in their last 10 games. The other action features out-of-division games as the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Knights are in Fairbanks for two games against the Ice Dogs, who enter the weekend riding a 19-game winning streak, while the Johnstown Tomahawks are in Kenai River.
In the South Division, all six teams are in action. The 1st place Shreveport Mudbugs look to lock in a playoff spot with a pair of home games against the Odessa Jackalopes.
