August 10, 2018

The Jamestown Rebels (formerly the Philadelphia Rebels), proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Chase Hamstad has committed to play NCAA Division I Hockey for the Minnesota State University-Mankato, who play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). His commitment begins in September of 2020.
Hamstad, 18, was tendered by the Rebels back in November of 2017. He joined the team in March after finishing his high school career at White Bear Lake in Minnesota. The Hugo, Minnesota native had four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in ten regular season games and one point in four Robertson Cup Playoff games with the Rebels.
“I am honored to announce my commitment to play college hockey for Minnesota State University,” stated Hamstad. “I would like to thank my coaches and family for their support along the way.”
“I’m happy for Chase,” said Rebels Head Coach Joe Coombs. “He worked very hard for us when he was here. He has the tools, work ethic and drive to be a dominating player.”
The Mavericks, who represent Minnesota State University-Mankato, is located in Mankato, MN. The Mavericks had an overall record of 29-10-1 last season, which included a regular season WCHA conference championship.
Hamstad (6’2/185) was selected in the 9th round (#137 overall) by the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in Phase II of the United States Hockey League draft back in May.
